Dark Revenge Of An Unwanted Wife The Twins Are Not Yours novel Chapter 527

Chapter 527: Captives V

Athena was sure the girlfriend being referred here wasn’t her. She hadn’t gone to college with Ewan. Who could this girlfriend be?

She turned to Ewan, her lashes fluttering weakly. He looked just as confused as everyone in the room, well, apart from Herbert.

Of course, they must have talked about it, bonded over whatever hatred they had for Ewan, Athena mused, jaw ticking, straining to remain awake.

She felt sleepy, but was afraid if the sleep haunting her eyelids were that of death. She tried to inhale, but it was getting tougher with each passing second.

Was she really going to die here? Was this the end of her story, her and Ewan’s love story? Even though she was not a quitter, she found herself tending toward that line.

"What are you... talking about?"

Athena realized that she wasn’t the only one going through the motions of weakness or death. Ewan’s voice was now barely a whisper, and she knew it wasn’t just for acting, or something like that. He was actually weak.

Screaming when Antonio had abused her had taken much of whatever he had been conserving. So, it was only an outsider that could save them, their family. But how could they, when they thought that they were on a honeymoon sort?

She reverted her attention to Antonio when the latter chuckled drily, standing to his feet and starting to pace, slowly, leisurely.

"Do you remember Amah... the girl you killed with your recklessness..."

When Ewan shut his eyes, Athena knew the girl being talked about. The girl that had been a victim of Ewan’s woes, the girl that had died in the accident that had been orchestrated to kill Ewan, an accident orchestrated by Herbert.

Athena was sure of her deduction, as her head snapped to Herbert. Did Antonio know that Herbert had been behind the death of the girl he loved?

"She was the love of my life, light within my soul..." A dry humorless laugh followed. "But you snatched her away with only a wink."

Athena would have laughed but for the seriousness of the situation. She didn’t blame Amah though. Ewan’s wink was wickedly sexy, especially if the other eye was swamped with a call for night pleasures.

"She left me without a second thought..."

"She didn’t love you then..." That was Zane, sounding flat, not flinching when Antonio scowled at him.

"You are supposed to be on my side!"

Zane shrugged. "I don’t think we have ever seen eye to eye, but for this situation. It’s crazy you are in this because a girl moved on... really?"

"Zane..." Herbert’s call was a warning, one enough to shut Zane up.

Well, not really.

"But I understand your pain. Women can be fickle, reason I don’t rate them."

An emotion of pain flickered through his eyes then, and Athena knew it was Gianna he had been thinking about.

What exactly had happened between them? She wondered, remembering the outburst just days ago in the living room. Whatever it was, was definitely not water under the bridge.

"Good, I am glad you understand." Antonio was appeased. "The slut moved and never turned back. But I have her to thank for discovering a whole new world of pleasure, while making each of them scream in pain..."
