Stuart Hunt was speechless.
That damned brat Serenity was very hard to deal with. Unexpectedly, the man she married was also just as hard to deal with.
Zachary leaned against the counter and put his hands into his pockets.
Serenity’s eyes sparkled. Wow! That was so charming of him!
Cough, cough. This was not the time to be appreciating handsome men.
Serenity hurriedly looked seriously at her uncles and aunts.
“So tell me, what were you planning to do with Serenity? Beat her up because you have the numbers? Or were you going to intimidate her and pressure her to fork out a huge sum to pay for your old lady’s medical bills and even pay for your room, gas, and bridge tolls?”
“How could we beat her when she’s a barbarian?”
Abigail cried in anger. She was here to settle the score with Serenity.
After finding out her son Noah had been detained by the police, everyone agreed to first get Noah bailed out before looking for Serenity.
However, when they tried to bail Noah out, they were told that he could not be released on bail.
Abigail felt anxious, angry, and distressed.
She did not even manage to see her son’s face.
She had a suspicion that this was the work of Serenity’s backer. Otherwise, why was it that the other thugs could all be released on bail except for Noah?
The grudge between the Hunts and Serenity which had already been present before this deepened because of Noah’s detainment.
The elders finally decided to come knocking on Serenity’s door together.
Before this, it was always the younger generation who showed their faces. As the elders, the most they would do was give Serenity a call.
“Serenity, let me ask you this. It was you who put Noah in jail, wasn’t it? How could you be so evil? Noah’s so young! He’s still a child! You’ve ruined his life. He has a record now—it’ll ruin him!
Turning away, he walked back into the shop.
The Hunts were dumbstruck.
Serenity’s husband had moved so quickly that they did not have enough time to react and Abigail had already been shoved out of the bookshop.
Zachary swept back into the shop like a storm and said to the equally dumbstruck Serenity, “Get me a basin of water. I want to wash my hands. They’ve been dirtied.”
Serenity hurriedly went to get Zachary a basin of water.
It… seemed like he was kind of a germophobe.
When they were living together, he never let her touch his stuff.
Zachary put his hands into the basin of water and started scrubbing at them vigorously as if he had dirtied his hands when he threw Abigail out.
Although this action of his was not harmful, it was insulting. It made the Hunts angry.
