Chapter 513

~Zara’s POV~

Luna Slaton watched from her throne beyond the circle, her expression eerily calm, almost fascinated. Vera stood at her side, eyes gleaming with anticipation, lips curled in amusement.

This was the moment they’d waited for.

This was the moment they wanted.

"More," one of the witches hissed. "She’s holding back."

"She’s breaking!" another cried.

"She has more. It’s buried deeper—tap the inner sanctum!"

I felt something grip my spine, not physically—but metaphysically. Like cold claws dug into the root of my soul and twisted.

I screamed again—this time blood spilled from my nose. My ears rang so loud I thought they’d burst. My chest heaved, and I thought—for a moment—I might die. That this was it. The moment the power I’d protected, the legacy I’d carried, would finally be stolen.

And then I felt something snap.

Something inside me broke.

A memory tore from me—my father’s face. His voice. His laugh. And then... gone.

"No..." I whimpered.

Light burst from my mouth in a violent surge, illuminating the dome in brilliant white as my eyes rolled back and my skin flushed a dangerous, glowing red.

The altar beneath me cracked.

The witches staggered.

"She’s overloading!" one screamed.

"She wasn’t supposed to fight this hard!"

"Seal the soul! Seal it!"

They rushed forward—but my body wasn’t responding anymore.

I couldn’t cry.

Couldn’t move.

Couldn’t feel.

Everything inside me—everything that was me—was being bled out in slow, agonizing pieces.

And still, somehow, through it all...

I felt him.

Snow.

Not as a thought. Not as memory.

But as a pull. A heartbeat that didn’t belong to me, pounding through the pain. Growing louder.

Closer.

Burning through the fog like a beacon.

Please... hurry. I’m not going to last much longer.

~Snow’s POV~

The dome stood like a blackened scar on the forest floor.

It wasn’t made of stone or steel—but something older, something wrong. Its surface shimmered like obsidian soaked in oil, pulsing with deep, slow breaths. Warding sigils danced across the base in molten red, glowing and shifting as if alive.

The moment I got within fifty feet, I felt it—Zara’s scream. Not heard. Felt.

It ripped through my chest like claws across my soul, pulling something vital and sacred from inside me. I staggered, gripping the nearby tree as nausea struck and my vision dimmed at the edges.

Glacier roared in my head.

"She’s dying! She’s slipping!"

"No—no, not yet," I growled, blinking hard and moving forward, hand clenched over my chest. "Just hold on, Zara. I’m here."

Beside me, Siona stepped forward, her jaw clenched tight, both hands raised as pale violet light shimmered from her palms. Sweat already glistened on her forehead as she began chanting under her breath.

Davion stepped to her other side, his stance wide, fingers crackling faintly with golden light as his dragon aura flared into view—sharp, sharp enough to make the air crackle with tension.

"They’ve bound this dome with soul locks," Siona hissed, lips tight. "Old ones. Layered, cursed, woven into her essence."

"What does that mean?" Zade asked from behind, readying his blades as Golden God and Jupiter scanned the outer perimeter for traps.

"It means," Siona gritted out, her hands trembling now, "they didn’t just shield this place. They bound it to her. As she weakens, the dome gets stronger. It’s feeding off her power—off the extraction!"

Snow surged forward, fists clenched. "Then break it. Now."

"I’m trying," Siona snapped, magic flaring violently as she pushed harder.

But the dome held firm. Tendrils of black energy lashed out toward her, striking her arms like whips. She cried out and stumbled, only for Davion to catch her.

His eyes glowed bright violet.

"Enough," he muttered darkly.

The air shifted.

Suddenly, everything changed.

A surge of heat rolled from him like a furnace being unleashed. The grass beneath his feet scorched to ash in a perfect circle. The sigils on the dome flickered—just for a moment.

Then he stepped forward, eyes narrowed at the dome’s apex, his voice low, ancient and thrumming with pure elemental command.

"Break," Davion whispered.

The runes flared, resisting—pushing back with shrieking winds and dark magic.

He growled, louder this time. "Break!"

The sky rumbled.

The dome cracked—just a fracture. A thin vein of white light cut across its surface.

Siona, now beside him again, lifted her hands and shouted an incantation that echoed through the trees.

Magic flared from her, meeting Davion’s fire head-on, fusing, spinning—until the dome shuddered.

Then—

BOOM.

The entire ward shattered in a burst of black dust and flickering white light.

Everyone ducked as the magical shockwave rippled outward, rattling branches and sending leaves flying like a hurricane had passed through.

When I lifted my head again, the dome was down. A long stone stairway now led underground—into darkness.

I didn’t wait.

Didn’t breathe.

Didn’t ask.

I ran.

Down the steps. Into the black.

Toward her scream. Toward that pull.

This was the moment they wanted.

"She’s breaking!" another cried.

Something inside me broke.

"Seal the soul! Seal it!"

Couldn’t feel.

Everything inside me—everything that was me—was being bled out in slow, agonizing pieces.

I felt him.

Snow.

Please... hurry. I’m not going to last much longer.
