Marcus turned to Natalie. “Natalie, Terence’s men were protecting you so well. If I hadn’t brought you something today and caused a scene, Marie wouldn’t have had an opening. We weren’t thinking. From now on, if you ever need anything from us, just say the word, and I’ll be there. Otherwise, I won’t bother you again.”
Just then, someone called out.
“You can see the patient now.”
Marcus looked at Natalie. “Do you want to see Mom? We won’t force you if you don’t.”
Natalie remained silent, deeply conflicted.
At that moment, Terence squeezed her hand and said, “Go see her. You don’t want to have regrets later.”
Terence gave her an encouraging look, sensing the turmoil warring within her.
…
In the hospital room.
Elaine Ward saw Natalie and reached out her hand. “Natalie, I’m so glad you’re okay. As long as you’re okay.”
Natalie placed a bottle of pills in Elaine Ward’s hand. “This medicine will help you recover faster. Take two pills, three times a day.”
Elaine clutched the medicine, her face lighting up. “I will, I will. Natalie, does this mean you’ve forgiven me?”
Seeing Natalie give her the medicine, Elaine was overjoyed, believing it meant Natalie had forgiven her and was ready to come back to the Ward family.
Natalie said, “I don’t blame you. You didn’t know anything. Since I don’t blame you, there’s nothing to forgive.”
