Matthew furrowed his brow and glanced at her disapprovingly. Then, he took the water bottle from her hand and placed it in the side pocket of his backpack. "Stop talking. You won't die."
Eleanor had a naturally fair complexion, with distinct features, thick eyebrows, big eyes, rosy lips, and a head of naturally black curly hair. Even when she tied her hair in a bun, she still looked cute and charming.
She possessed the innate beauty one would expect of a queen.
That was why Eleanor was confident enough to say, "There is no man in this world that I can't handle."
Indeed, she was very beautiful, and few people could resist her allure.
Especially when she frowned or smiled, she exuded elegance and charm that captivated people's hearts.
But no matter how beautiful she was, Matthew would not be swayed by her.
"I'm tired. Master, can we take a break?" she complained. "We've been walking for four hours since morning. I'm hungry. Can we rest for a while? I remember there is a saying in Bloomstead. It's something like... 'even a mule can't work all the time.' I'll seriously die of exhaustion."
Matthew had been worried about Veronica all along, and his heart was filled with anxiety. Suddenly hearing her words, he couldn't help but chuckle.
"So, you're a mule. Does your mother know?" He surprisingly went along with it.
A mule!
It was supposed to be a donkey. Eleanor, amazingly enough, remembered it as a mule.
"Are you insulting me? Hmph, if my mother finds out, she will definitely chop off your head," Eleanor retorted, feeling a bit tired.
Although her sprained foot had already recovered and no longer hurt, she was indeed tired.
Walking uphill all the way consumed too much physical energy.
She had only eaten a few wild fruits in the morning, and the energy replenishment was not enough to meet this level of consumption.
She simply grabbed Matthew's wrist. "Master, let's take a break. Please! Just for a while."
When Matthew was held by her, he paused his steps as his face immediately turned serious.
Matthew pointed to a small stream that appeared ahead. The sound of gurgling water created a pleasant melody.
Eleanor's eyes lit up, and she immediately ran over before squatting by the clear and transparent stream to take a sip of water and wash her face.
As she sat by a stone, she rested for a while before she started feeling better.
She looked up at the mountain, but her gaze fell on a crooked-necked tree. The branches extended in a direction that happened to be behind Matthew.
Meanwhile, Matthew took a map out of nowhere and looked at it.
With her sleek eyebrows raised, she strode toward Matthew.
"Watch out!"
She rushed over and slapped the branch behind Matthew. As a result, a green snake was flung out.
