Marguerite's mind was a scrambled mess.
Miley had been trying to help her, Marguerite could sense that much.
But tonight, after chugging down a serious amount of beer, Frederick should have been out like a light, snoring away the minute his head hit the pillow. So, where did he get the energy to dredge up a three-year-old feud?
Marguerite didn't ponder it too deeply. She followed Miley out of the restroom, only to find that Robert had already settled the tab.
Frederick was sprawled across the table, looking for all the world like he had passed out.
Marguerite was baffled, eyeing Frederick's broad, impressive silhouette before turning to Robert with a question, "What's up with him? Feeling sick?"
Robert shook his head, "Nope, just wasted."
"Wasted?" Marguerite was both shocked and confused.
When she had left, Frederick was all vim and vigor—how did he get blitzed in less than ten minutes? That was way too quick!
"You can't stop when you're on a roll, the moment you do, that's when the drunkenness hits."
Miley hurried over, pretending to check the time with a look of concern, "What are we gonna do now? We've drank alcohol, definitely can't drive, and there's no way to get a cab at this hour.
Ah, it's all my fault. If I'd known, we would've wrapped up earlier. We were just having too much fun and lost track of time."
Robert helped Frederick to his feet and looked at Marguerite, "Marguerite, can you lend a hand?"
Marguerite rushed over and slung Frederick's other arm over her shoulder.
Miley, pressed against the door, heard Marguerite grappling with it and turned to Robert with a mix of surprise and curiosity, "How did you do that? She really can't open it!"
A sly smile crept over Robert's genial face as he affectionately patted Miley's head, "Forgot? The Royal Haven Hotel is partly owned by the Fitzgerald family. I just sent a quick message to the tech team to install an additional lock on their room. It can only be unlocked remotely. But don't worry, the lock is timed. Come morning, it'll open up automatically."
Miley's excitement grew, "So, Marguerite and Mr. Winston are... wow, the thought alone is sizzling!"
Robert sighed, a mix of exasperation and fondness, as he took Miley's hand and led her to the adjacent room, "You little devil, always coming up with such mischievous schemes!
But Frederick got wasted way too fast tonight, that's not like him at all, it was strange!"
Miley was nonchalant, "Fast is good, right? The quicker he's out, the sooner we clock out!"
