Bride Behind the Mask novel Chapter 271

On the drive back, Frederick remained silent.

Chuck was driving, cautiously glancing at the man lounging on the leather backseat through the rear-view mirror. "Mr. Winston," he delicately asked, "now that Yuna isn't your life-saving angel, does that mean you won't be marrying her?"

The man's eyes were half-closed in rest, but his voice was clear and weary, "I won't."

Chuck hesitated, "And the child she's carrying..."

"I will get a paternity test."

Frederick had already made up his mind. Whether the child Yuna was carrying was his or not, he would never marry her. He would not allow a woman with a heart of stone to remain by his side.

Meanwhile, at the church.

Jocelyn had just arrived when Miley also rushed in.

Miley helped Marguerite with a lot of things, such as greeting guests, serving refreshments, and moving piles of prayer money and candles.

Taking a short break, she was about to go find Marguerite when Robert's call came in. She quickly found a corner to answer it. "Miley," his voice came through the phone, "I've got the guest list from the Regal Haven Hotel. It should be in my hands in a couple of days."

The co-owner of Regal Haven Hotel was Wade's uncle, who provided the list. But since the hotel's clientele was made up of the wealthy and influential, the information was highly confidential and took time to get.

Miley was understanding, "That's fine. Just send it over when you get it."

As she spoke, she glanced over at Marguerite, who was sitting on a bench with Jocelyn, deep in conversation.

Jocelyn's eyes suddenly met hers, and she beckoned for Miley to come over.

"I've got something to deal with. I'll call you back later."

Reminded of what Robert had told her, Miley asked, "Marguerite, do you still want to know who the father of your child is?"

"Of course." Marguerite didn't hesitate, her eyes drifting towards the crystal casket in the room. She let out a heavy sigh, "But right now, my grandmother's situation is more important. I want to wait until after her funeral."

Miley didn't push any further.

She had wanted to share the good news with Marguerite and give her something to be happy about, but the current situation made it hard for Marguerite to find joy in anything.

Marguerite's sadness seemed to be contagious, and Miley found herself feeling down as well.

But that was okay. There were still five or six days until the funeral. Once it was over, she would tell Marguerite the news immediately.

After all, it might be the only piece of good news in Marguerite's life right now.
