"Marguerite!"

Frederick's voice cracked as he cried out, immediately pulling Marguerite into a protective embrace. "Are you okay? Tell me right away if you're not feeling well!"

Pain spread from Marguerite's back to every corner of her body. She felt as if she were falling apart, but her pale face managed a weak smile. "I'm fine," she whispered.

Damn her! She was putting on a brave face again!

Powell's carelessness completely infuriated Frederick. He couldn't believe that Marguerite, a pregnant woman, had protected him from danger with her own body.

Why was she so foolish?

Rage burned in Frederick's chest, threatening to explode. As he turned towards Powell, his eyes glowed red, as if he could burn Powell to ashes with a mere glance.

He was about to retaliate when Marguerite hastily grasped his arm, shaking her head weakly at him. She then turned to face Powell. Despite his rage, she remained calm, her defiant gaze meeting his.

Powell stood frozen, his cane falling from his hand in shock. He couldn't believe Marguerite had taken the hit.

Even though he despised her, he didn't want to hurt her. After all, she was pregnant.

"Powell, why are you getting angry at a child? You're still sick, don't get upset so easily!" Jocelyn quickly stepped in front of Powell, turning back to Frederick. "What are you waiting for? Get her out of here!"

Frederick shot Powell a fierce glance. His strong arm wrapped around Marguerite, lifting her up in a possessive yet gentle manner. With a cold and heartless look, he carried Marguerite out of the room.
