Bride Behind the Mask novel Chapter 181

"Steven? Shouldn't you be in you department? What brings you here?"

The man who had just walked in was none other than Laverne's attending physician, Steven!

He had shed his uniform, now dressed in a black shirt with his blazer slung over one arm.

Marguerite noticed that Steven had a penchant for black shirts, but the color was too dark and didn't go well with most suits, so few people chose to dress like this.

Even Frederick, who fits in any color, had a closet full of crisp white shirts.

Steven's inherently soft demeanor, coupled with the black shirt, gave him a unique air of cool defiance.

"I just finished my shift and saw you as soon as I stepped out. You are injured pretty bad. Didn't Frederick come to pick you up?"

Marguerite glanced sideways, noticing Frederick had already wheeled Yuna into the elevator. Steven followed her gaze, and instantly understood.

"You two still haven't made up?"

Marguerite shook her head.

"Because of the baby?"

Marguerite nodded.

"I'll take you home." Steven decided immediately.

Marguerite didn't want to trouble him and quickly declined, "You don't have to, Steven. I can go home by myself."

Steven didn't listen, his long arm wrapped around the back of Marguerite's shoulders while his other hand held her arm, guiding her towards the exit.

"The pregnancy test results leaked from my office. I feel guilty about it. Please, Ms. Lockwood, give me a chance to make amends."

But two doctors quickly passed him, walking ahead, laughing and complaining.

"That patient named Yuna is hilarious. I heard she tried to commit suicide by overdosing, so I rushed to pump her stomach. But guess what? Her vital signs were excellent!

She swallowed a few melatonin tablets and didn't forget to take some vitamins. Absolutely unbelievable!"

Chuck was stunned. Yuna's vital signs were excellent?

But he clearly saw her being wheeled out earlier, looking half-dead.

He quickly caught up to the doctors and asked, "Doctor, can you tell me what melatonin is?"

The doctor didn't hold back, "It's a natural sleep aid, not as strong as sleeping pills. We just had a patient who tried to overdose on the lowest dose of melatonin. She sure knows how to take care of herself, taking vitamins after the melatonin, effectively neutralizing the effects!"
