Morgan turned back. He lifted Laura's face, revealing a playful expression.

“Regretting it now, huh?”

Laura quivered uncontrollably. “No, it's just too risky. One wrong move, and it could lead to irreversible disaster.”

Morgan pinched her cheeks. “Do you think you still deserve to escape far away?”

“Have you forgotten that what I want from the beginning is her?”

Laura winced in pain.

“And you, what was it that you promised me at the start?” Morgan pondered for a moment. “Oh, you said, all you wanted was money. I've done what you asked, Laura. It's too late to back out now.”

Josie had waited all day until finally, news from Morgan arrived.

His car was parked not far from the Olsen Residence. Josie got into the car with Grape. Upon seeing him, Grape greeted, respectfully, “Mr. Bastille!”

Morgan playfully prodded his cheek with his tongue. “You still remember me.”

“I have a very good memory!”

He personally drove, heading deep into the city.

It was the direction toward the hotel. Josie couldn't directly ask in front of the child, so she had no choice but to lower her head and remain silent.

She didn't think that he could actually do it.

The car came to a halt right outside the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.

Josie furrowed her brows. “Didn't they seal the hotel?”

Morgan glanced at the child. “There will be an on-site investigation today, and he's here as well.”

In reality, several guards were following not far behind. When Josie arrived, Dexter was standing at the door of one of the rooms on the second floor with a cigarette in his hand, conversing with someone through a veil of smoke.

It appeared that he wasn't the one being investigated, but rather, he was the one investigating others.

“Daddy!”

Grape swiftly ran over and leaped into Dexter's arms.

The man was caught somewhat off guard. He didn't even have time to put out his cigarette. He carried Grape, yet his eyes were fixed on Josie who was gradually approaching.

Josie also waited for a response to this question.

Dexter didn't respond. Instead, he counter-questioned, “Is the registration done?”

“No, I've been busy,” Josie said, forcing herself to remain calm.

At that moment, the person to the left of Dexter stepped forward, half-joking, “The child is already so big, yet she hasn't been registered? Whose last name does she carry?”

It was unmistakably the person who had come to question Josie that day.

Josie gave a wistful smile. “We're already divorced, and since I'm the one raising our child, it's only natural that she carries my last name.”

“Warren?” The person laughed heartily and hinted at something more. “It seems that Mr. Russell's vast fortune is without an heir.”

Josie and Dexter locked eyes. “Mr. Russell is still in his prime. There will naturally be others who will bear his children in the future. We are already a thing of the past.”

“Is that so?” The person turned to Dexter, seeking a response.

Dexter smirked, his eyes twinkling with mischief. “Indeed, Ms. Warren is a wonderful woman too. I'm certain she will meet a good man in the future.”
