[BL] Accidentally Becoming the Healer of the Deranged Archduke novel Chapter 291

Chapter 291: Are We Breaking Up?!

"Xion? You have to tell me what you feel so I can understand it."

The words sounded so gentle, so tempting that the certain voice-obsessed healer decided to really speak his mind. He was already halfway through, anyway.

"I didn’t like it when someone else told me. But you... You kept it to yourself."

A soft sigh that escaped Darius’ lips made Xion’s ears tingle.

"I didn’t want you to worry about anything. You’ve only been here a few days. I wanted you to enjoy it, not be troubled by some random woman."

At that, Xion’s lips curved into a small smile before he forcefully pulled them down.

"How many people have you loved, Darius?" the words tumbled out of his mouth before he could stop himself.

"You really want to know?"

The silly healer didn’t hear the teasing glint in Darius’ words. His fingers clenched as he hummed, silently waiting for a reply.

"There has been no one but you, Xion. You were the first person I fell for, and you’ll be the last."

Xion melted like wax in the heat of those words. "Put me down," he whispered, not trusting his quivering voice.

Darius obeyed with a grin. Rolling to the other side, the Archduke still had a possessive grip over the thin waist. "And you?"

After taking a deep breath, Xion turned to meet those mesmerizing green eyes. "Only you. I’ve only ever loved you."

Just as those words slipped past his lips, all the courage left Xion’s body.

So when laughter full of happiness echoed in the room, he buried himself further into the warm embrace.

Despite the heat radiating from his face, he couldn’t stop the curl of his own lips.

"Am I not the luckiest man alive?" Darius said, brushing a thumb across his soft cheek. "To have you as my lover, even the deity would envy me."

Xion rolled his eyes, but the bashful giddiness lingered stubbornly in his eyes.

"But I won’t be of any help to you," he finally muttered. "I don’t have a powerful family, or brains to deal with politics."

Even when he noticed Darius’ eyes narrow, he resumed anyway. "I’m just some ordinary healer, you know."

"You’ve got some serious doubts about yourself, my dear."

Amid Xion’s confusion, the silver-haired elf flicked his forehead lightly, making him blink in surprise.

"Serena is a former member of the church council. Even after her retirement, people still don’t dare to cross her. And who said you can’t fight in court?" A proud grin illuminated Darius’ face. "It was your cure, Xion, that gave us the upper hand."

He chuckled, amused at how Xion was trying hard not to show the proud smile.

With a content sigh, he rested his chin on the tuft of black hair. freewēbnoveℓ.com

"You should’ve seen the faces of those royal envoys when they left last night. Priceless."

"I wouldn’t be doing much though. Most of the time I would be reading books or lazing around," Xion wondered aloud. "You would have to do all the work on your own."

"Of course. I just need you by my side, and-" Darius gave a sly smirk as his hand gave a gentle squeeze on his ass, "-I need you on my bed."

Before the Archduke could spout more obscene nonsense, Xion interrupted him with a cough. "Alright, I get it," he said, thoroughly embarrassed.

"I-I’ll try my best too. I’ll take care of you... and be good to you," The flustered kitten almost stuttered as he completed the words he had been thinking for a long time. "I’ll be a good boyfriend."

"Ah?" Xion blinked, trying to digest the words. Married? Who’s getting married?

"Oh lord." Xion seemed to be in a daze as he mumbled, "We are getting married? We are?"

It was only when he was repeatedly fed that he managed to think straight while trying to suppress the wide smile spreading on his face.

Then another thought sprang unbidden in his mind. "What about that church? The plants the Saintess was growing—those were the cause of the plague. We can’t just leave it like that."

Darius took a spoonful of pastry and fed it to Xion. "Don’t worry. Things have been handled."

Then without any shame, he licked the corner of the stained lips. "Very sweet."

Xion swatted him, exasperated by his demeanor. "I am serious."

"I know," the Archduke finally didn’t tease the bashful healer anymore. "That church caught up in the fire last night. According to the report, nothing was spared."

Including those flowers and that maid who made you so tense.

Of course, Darius didn’t say that aloud. Instead, he told Xion that the people were still alive and well. Well, most of them were.

Those wide blue eyes stared straight at Darius, trying to find the hint of jest, but there was none. The Archduke looked very innocent.

"That’s... nice?" For a second he couldn’t understand if he should be worried about the fire or be glad that it burned those flowers.

"Well, things work miraculously. I’ve heard that Saintess has shifted to another place, along with her entourage."

As for how such a massive fire broke out, and how it burned even the ancient stones to ash—well, the soot still lingering on Darius’ discarded boots told its own story.

He hadn’t come home until nearly dawn. Just in time to crawl into bed beside Xion. He didn’t mention that to Xion though.

And it also didn’t matter to him where Talia went. As long as she didn’t cause any harm to Xion, he wasn’t interfering with her plans.

However, if she dared to cross the line again, that would be the end of the friendly treaty he had signed with her.
