Chapter 829
He’d nearly given someone else another opening to strike,
Aurora could only soothe Megan in a gentle voice. “Alright, calm down, don’t get so worked up.
“Besides, I’m fine now, aren’t I? I’m sitting here chatting with you safe and sound.”
Megan huffed coldly, still clearly upset. “That’s only because you’re lucky!
“If it weren’t for your willpower, who knows–he might’ve gotten hat injection into you, and then what? You could’ve ended up in a coma again!”
Aurora’s smile faded slightly.
She had no way to argue with Megan’s words because everything she said was true.
If she hadn’t fought back, the outcome would have been painfully obvious.
Or worse, what if she had woken up just a little later?
The thought made Aurora shiver, unable to summon the courage to imagine what could have followed.
Lucas, meanwhile, waited patiently while Megan vented.
He knew that once she got it all out, there wouldn’t be much left for him to explain.
As for the glare Leonard had thrown at him earlier–he didn’t see it at all.
And even if he had, he wouldn’t have cared.
Leonard was just jealous, plain and simple.
There was nothing else worth discussing.
No matter how jealous Leonard got, it would all be pointless in the end.
He couldn’t change the fact that Lucas was Aurora’s legal husband.
They were the ones whose names were printed on the same household registration.
Leonard knew he was being a little emotional.
But after learning the full story, how could he not be angry?
It was clearly Lucas’s negligence that left Aurora alone in that hospital room.
And to think, he’d made such a scene about driving them away back then!
And then what?
The more Leonard thought about it, the more ridiculous Lucas‘ behavior seemed.
Before he could say anything, Grace’s voice came through the phone.
“So that syringe… it was meant to knock her unconscious, wasn’t?”
No one knew how much strength it took for Grace to keep her temper in check as she said those words.
She had never imagined Julian would actually do something like that.
How dare he?
Aurora was her daughter.

And yet she had suffered all of this alone, without anyone telling her a word…
Lucas didn’t hesitate as he answeird, “Yes, Mom. That’s exactly what it was.
“And I’m not trying to make excuses for myself.”
The moment he said that, everyone turned to look at him, unsure what he meant.
Why bring that up all of a sudden?
Weren’t they talking about the syringe?
