Aurora Walton and Lucas Carter novel Chapter 1710

“Are you out of your mind? Do you have a death wish?”

His voice was sharp, almost cutting.

She didn’t care at all.

She pushed the door open and walked straight inside.

“Didn’t expect you to have such gentlemanly manners.”

Watching her walk in, he couldn’t even describe what he felt.

“I swear, there’s something seriously wrong with you.”

Hearing that, her smile only deepened.

“You’re absolutely right. I am messed up.”

She didn’t hesitate to mock herself. “If I weren’t messed up, I wouldn’t have chased Lucas for so many years.

“If I weren’t messed up, I wouldn’t be standing here right now.

“If I weren’t messed up, I wouldn’t be thinking about using you to deal with Aurora.”

By the time she finished, her eyes were glimmering with unshed tears.

Seeing her like that stirred something unpleasant in his chest.

“Didn’t expect you to be this stubborn.”

She tilted her lips in a humorless smile.

“So? Did my stubbornness touch you at least a little?”

He gave up resisting, closed the door, and let out a short laugh before shaking his head. “Not even close.”

She didn’t feel discouraged at all.

This was her first time coming to Joseph, and if he agreed too easily, she would’ve suspected something was wrong.

He had rejected her outright before, after all.
