Chapter 1289
“Besides, she’s your mother and my mother–in–law. Even if I say a few things, that’s only natural.
“Since we chose to be husband and wife, we face every challenge together, not one of us dodging while the other shoulders it alone.”
Hearing those words, Aurora was deeply moved.
She realized her thinking had been too narrow before.
Marriage meant she wasn’t alone anymore. She had someone she could lean on.
Sometimes she could let herself hand over her burdens to the one she trusted, instead of carrying them all on
her own.
“Then just pretend I never said anything.” Aurora gave him a playful wink.
Lucas responded with a knowing smile.
Seeing her so lively and natural warmed his heart.
He hoped he could always protect that smile rather than watch her return to the shadowed, icy look she wore in front of Grace.
Aurora wasn’t shaken by the confrontation. Instead, she returned to work as usual.
Daniel’s project was no small task. In the early stages, they even had to go on–site to gather real data.
While Aurora was buried under deadlines, news spread through the business world that she had secured Daniel’s project.
Everyone knew how difficult he was to deal with.
Polished though he might be in social settings, his way of doing business was fixed–if he didn’t like something, no one could force his hand.
