Chapter 1267
Those words made Megan’s face flare bright red.
She shot a glare at Lucas. “Lucas, what nonsense are you spouting?”
“Am I wrong? Even you probably didn’t realize how quickly you rushed over just now.”
Flustered, Megan hurried back to Aurora’s side, hiding behind her. “Don’t talk nonsense. I only see him as friend–that’s why I acted like that.”
Though she tucked herself behind Aurora, her voice still carried clearly.
Hearing this, a flicker of disappointment passed through Leonard’s eyes.
He had thought her special concern for him meant she felt something more.
But her swift denial showed it was only his own wishful thinking.
The realization left him feeling even heavier inside. His hand at his side slowly curled into a fist.
Lucas caught every detail.
His lips curved in a faint, knowing smile.
Just as he suspected.
This made things far simpler.
If he could steer Megan toward Leonard, then he’d no longer need to worry about Leonard hovering around
Aurora.
Aurora smiled and soothed her. “Alright, alright, no one’s accusing you. We get it. You two are just friends.”
That reassurance finally calmed Megan a little.
Leonard took a step closer to Aurora, but Megan panicked and quickly waved him off.
“Hey, hey–just stay right there. Don’t come any closer.”
He smiled at Aurora. “Better not. I still have things to take care of. I mainly wanted to come and offer my congratulations. Now that I have, that’s enough for me.”
When Megan heard Leonard decline, outwardly she let out a sigh of relief, but inside she felt a pang of disappointment.
She had been hoping to spend more time with him, and now that chance was gone so suddenly. She hadn’t even processed how things had shifted so fast.
Lucas caught every flicker of her reaction.
Yes, he thought, the match was clear–these two clearly had feelings for each other.
And he would play matchmaker.
Aurora, seeing Leonard ready to leave, didn’t press him further.
“Alright, I accept your congratulations. We’ll gather again when there’s a chance.”
If he wanted to go, pushing him to stay would only seem impolite.
Leonard nodded without another word.
It was obvious that staying any longer would only be unnecessary.
