He stared at Megan in disbelief.

Faced with such a clueless Megan, he didn’t even know whether to comfort her or scold her.

“So what are you planning to do now?” Leon asked at last.

Even as the words left his mouth, he couldn’t believe he was asking such a ridiculous question.

Megan just shrugged, arms wide. “What can I do? I’ll just leave it to fate.”

Leon looked at her in disbelief. He hadn’t expected her to take it so lightly.

Sometimes, he almost envied her–no matter what happened, she managed to keep this strange kind of

optimism.

“You’ve been drinking. Why don’t I take you home?” Leon offered gently.

But Megan gave him a long once–over. “What, you mean you haven’t been drinking too?”

The question left Leon momentarily speechless.

So, she wasn’t nearly as drunk as he thought–she knew exactly what she was saying.

“Still, I can’t let you go home alone. I wouldn’t feel right about it.”

Whatever happened, Leon was determined to see her back safely tonight.

The last time, he hadn’t managed to learn where she lived. This time, he wasn’t about to miss the chance.

But Megan waved him off. “No need. I know the way back myself. Besides, I didn’t drink that much tonight–I’m perfectly clear–headed.”

Leon frowned, about to say more, but Megan pressed a finger to her lips. “Shh. Quiet. If you keep talking, you’ll just start to annoy me.”

Hearing that, Leon could only fall silent, reluctantly giving in to her wishes.
