Chapter 1366: Time
Atticus felt a wave of shock travel through his being.
His burning will had just collided with that of the masked willguard’s, and it didn’t take him time to come to the conclusion;
‘His will is stronger than mine.’
Atticus was sure of it. If he hadn’t compressed his will to only encompass his blade, he doubted if it wouldn’t have shattered.
His eyes met the willguard’s, and Atticus didn’t miss the shock in them. He was shocked Atticus had been able to withstand his will.
Regardless, Atticus didn’t care.
More shockwaves traveled through his will, threatening to break it.
‘I have to do something.’ The thought thundered in his head, and from the depth of his soul, something answered.
Atticus’ crimson eyes flashed purple, and like a flicker, crimson will flared purple. In the next moment, the golden sturdy will of the willguard began to flicker.
The willguard’s eyes shot wide in utter shock, muttering under his breath.
“Solvath’s fragment.”
Atticus narrowed his eyes the moment he heard those words.
‘So that’s why…’
Elderish had warned him of this. That in the middle planes, there were people who would hunt down the kin of Solvath.
While Atticus had kept that in mind, he had literally awakened minutes ago. He would’ve never expected that it would be so soon.
‘We have to escape.’
He had only now understood the gravity of the situation.
This wasn’t some petty crime like participating in an illegal auction, this was a universe wide threat.
Solvath was a primordial star, which meant his enemies must be on the same level, or at least, on a level beyond even the middle planes.
Wasting time defeating these men would only be detrimental.
Atticus focused his weight downward, legs hitting the ground. He stomped forward, and his head exploded towards the willguard’s head.
The man’s eyes narrowed in shock. He was barely able to gather his will despite the disharmonizing nature of Atticus’ purple will.
Their heads met in a brutal explosion of energy, sending both of them hurtling in opposite directions.
Atticus twisted in the air, leaning down and skidding across the shattered ground. His mind worked quickly.
‘We have to es-‘
Before he could warn the others, he felt a wave of emotions surge through him. Anguish, betrayal, anger, rage, resentment.
Each emotion was deep, as though they’d been piling up for millennia. Atticus tried, but no matter how much, he couldn’t get himself under control.
His movements seized, vision turning black. His eyes caught sight of an approaching golden beam screaming towards him before his vision left him.
‘Shit!’
Atticus knew the willguard had shot that beam. It had the ability to absorb any will it came in contact with, using it to fuel itself.
Should that beam make contact with him, he wasn’t sure what to expect. The only hope he could possibly have with defending against it was if his will was more powerful than the shooter’s. However, it wasn’t.
Atticus went through another round of vision. It was the same as the last time. The Big Bang of the universe, Solvath’s end, and his childhood. He lived through it, the emotion threatening to overwhelm him.
Tears spilled from his eyes, oblivious to his imminent demise. But just as the beam was about to hit, a piercing cry tore him out of his visions.
“Your eminence!”
