Atticus's Odyssey: Reincarnated Into A Playground novel Chapter 1233

Chapter 1233: Horrified

"So... why are they still alive?"

Oberon felt the air in his office turn hot.

Atticus was staring straight at him with eyes that were far from calm. He couldn’t help but shudder at how easily Atticus spoke of annihilating an entire race of people.

"I—"

"What about their paragons?" Atticus suddenly cut in and asked.

"They..." Oberon trailed off. He knew what he was about to say would only make everything worse. He sighed. He had no choice.

"They’ve taken every opportunity to challenge your position and discredit your words. It’s obvious they don’t like you... but they can’t do anything about it."

Atticus’ expression didn’t change. It was as if the situation had nothing to do with him.

"The Dimensari too?"

Oberon nodded. "The Dimensari too."

"So why haven’t you done anything about them?"

Oberon cleared his throat. "There are two reasons, Supreme Ruler," he said. "First, the Vampyros and Dimensari are strong. Before we became Eldorians, we would’ve struggled to defeat them even at our best. And second... we’d just come out of a war that tore our world apart. It was necessary to rebuild in peace rather than plunge everyone into another conflict. We owe the people that much."

Atticus listened to his words before simply nodding. "Alright."

"Alright?" Oberon was so shocked that he had to ask. Did he just say alright? Just like that?

Atticus stood from his seat, followed by Oberon.

"I need to talk with them."

Oberon felt his heart sink. Talk? Atticus? Talk?! When did he ever talk?

He nodded his head reluctantly. "When, Supreme Ruler?" he asked.

"Now."

Before Oberon could react, he felt his body being forcibly teleported away. As he opened his eyes, he found himself inside a large hall. He recognized it instantly, the main hall of the dominion pillars.

Oberon stood at one corner of the hall, his gaze focused on Atticus who stood on the elevated platform, facing the hall with an unnervingly calm gaze.

Before Oberon could ask what was going on, multiple distortions appeared all around the hall, followed by the figures of people being teleported inside.

"What... what is going on?"

"I was just walking into my house, where is... here?"

Many panic filled voices echoed through the hall as the paragons all wondered the same thing, how had they gotten here?

’What is he going to do?’ Oberon felt a twist in his stomach that made him uncomfortable.

The paragons Atticus had just teleported were all Vampyros and Dimensari. He couldn’t help but dread what was coming next.

’Don’t tell me.’

"Paragons of the Vampyros and the Dimensari."

"But I won’t do that," he said, and waved his arm. Dozens of folded parchment papers appeared and floated toward the paragons. "Sign this."

They felt the grip on their bodies loosen. And as they picked up the mana contracts and read the clauses, their eyes couldn’t help but pop wide.

"A-a s-slave contract?!"

Many of their bodies trembled. They couldn’t believe their eyes. How could they sign this?

"Yes," Atticus’ calm voice didn’t change. "You’ve proved to me that you’re all too shortsighted to make decisions for your people. So I will be taking that responsibility." He waited a second before speaking again. "If any of you object to this, now is the time to speak."

Almost immediately, one of the Vampyros paragons spoke before he could even think.

"I will never accept th—"

SQUASH.

Blood exploded everywhere as the paragon was crushed by an unseen force. The paragon had been to blood and gore.

Those closest to him were drenched in red. They stood frozen in horror, staring at the spot where their peer had just existed, now completely gone.

They were horrified to see he didn’t revive, despite being a Vampyros.

"Now." Atticus’ voice broke them out of their horror. They turned toward him just as he continued.

"Are there any other objections?"

There was only dead silence in the hall. None of the paragons made a sound.
