Atticus's Odyssey: Reincarnated Into A Playground novel Chapter 1164

While a battle that would determine all waged in the arena of gods, in one part of Eldoralth, another world ending scene was beginning to unfold.

Zoey peered her eyes open as the blinding purple lights that flooded her eyes began to settle.

'W-where am I?'

She felt disoriented, a feeling she instantly recognized. Back at the academy, she had felt it more times that she could care to remember.

'I was transported.' She realized. The memories of earlier came surging back. She tensed, instantly becoming alert. Her eyes sharpened as she scanned her surroundings.

She saw it instantly.

A tree of violet so blinding, it was as though the world had turned purple. It was massive, its peak piercing into the sky.

Its purple branches were thicker than anything Zoey had ever seen before, and its leaves radiated an aura that seemed to calm her soul.

But Zoey didn't fall for the trick. The Starhaven acted like fanatics who had lost their minds. She had been forcibly transported here.

No matter how she thought about it, this wasn't good.

Zoey lowered her eyes from the imposing tree and gazed at the sea of purple-haired people, all bowing on all fours before her. There was utter silence in their ranks, their reverence was palpable.

Her gaze stopped on a figure leading the fanatical crowd.

'Mom,' Zoey thought in dread. For a brief moment, she had hoped Celestial had changed. That maybe, just maybe, after all these years of being away from her, she had been worried.

But she was wrong.

"Zoey."

Zoey's eyes widened slightly.

'There's someone beside me?'

She couldn't move her body, but her head was another story. She turned, and her eyes widened.

"Grandma?" she called out.

Seraphina smiled tiredly as she gazed at her granddaughter. This was the moment she would usually admonish Zoey for calling her grandma instead of aunty, but the current situation demanded seriousness.

She too couldn't move, positioned just beside Zoey, overlooking the worshipping fanatics.

A second passed. Her smile faded.

"How do you feel, Zoey?"

Zoey recognized her grandmother's serious tone and responded instantly.

"Disoriented, Grandma… what's going on here?"

Seraphina sighed. "I wish I could tell you the exact reason, sweetie. But I have an assumption, and it's far from good."

She paused slightly, then asked, "Disoriented is all you're feeling?"

Zoey's eyes narrowed.

'Am I supposed to feel something else?'

She looked inwardly, and it was as though a dam broke.

Zoey felt a presence pressing down on her. It was one she had never felt before in all her life. One whose authority she couldn't defy.

"W-who is this?"

Seraphina's eyes darkened. "You can feel him?"

Zoey nodded hesitantly. "Yes, but who—?"

"The Spirit King," Seraphina said.

"The Spirit King?" Zoey repeated, and the aura pressing down on her intensified, as if responding.

Her expression darkened. Lumindra had told her about their history, the one who led the spirit world.

'That's right, Lumindra! Where are you!? Lumi!'

Zoey called out again and again, but there was only silence in her thoughts. She remembered her last words.

"How?" Zoey tried hard to keep her composure. ƒгeewebnovёl.com

The fact that only Zoey could feel his presence only further confirmed her suspicion.

"I believe," Seraphina began slowly, "he wants to use you as the conduit, and all of us as the fuel."

Zoey's eyes widened. "W-what?" Her heart trembled. "Then… do you mean…?"

Seraphina smiled faintly. "Yes, sweetie. We'll all die, except you."

Zoey felt like her world was collapsing.

"There has to be a way… can't we call anyone? That's right, Atticus! He has spiritual energy, right? And his bond, why aren't they here?!"

Seraphina shook her head. "I don't know. The Spirit King might be trying to avoid alerting them."

"Then they'll see something's wrong!" Zoey pushed.

But Seraphina gave a sad smile and said, "If they were coming… they would have already."

Zoey's expression darkened. "No… no…" Her gaze darted around, desperate, and landed on her mother.

"That's right. Mom can help us. I'm sure she's just confused. Mom! Mom! It's me! Zoey, your daughter!"

But Celestial didn't even so much as lift her head from her bow.

Zoey's expression broke. She froze, staring into empty air.

"Zoey…" Seraphina called softly.

But Zoey didn't respond. She was grappling with everything at once, her voice was lost, her thoughts spiraling.

"Zoey," Seraphina said again. Still no answer. Then her voice rose, firm. "Zoey!"

Zoey snapped out of it. She turned to see Seraphina looking at her seriously.

"Zoey," she said, "you can't break here. You still have so much to do."

Tears streaked down Zoey's cheeks. "But I can't do anything, Grandma… You're all going to die, and I can't even move. I'm useless."
