"We only use Manifest if it's our last option."
Lysara nodded seriously at Kaelith's words. Manifestation would bring their actual Wills directly into the world.
Right now, with just Impose, they only felt pain when Atticus harmed it. But any damage done during Manifest… would be irreparable.
The gash didn't vanish. In fact, it still sizzled from the remnants of Atticus's Will left behind.
'I have to get rid of it.'
Kaelith's white Will engulfed the wound, and in the next second, the traces of Atticus's Will were purged.
"We attack together."
Kaelith's icy words were met with a firm nod from Lysara. Then they turned toward the distant streaking figure, cloaks of white and green bursting along their bodies.
Atticus twisted mid air.
His body skidded across the land, tearing a deep gash like a canyon into the earth. As his momentum slowed, he raised his head.
White and green had engulfed everything once more.
Lysara's forest had vanished, replaced by an army of towering, tree-like creatures, their numbers stretching into the horizon.
Kaelith's creatures had grown. Bigger. More vicious. More powerful.
Together, they marched toward Atticus in unison, shaking the earth with every step.
But as Atticus took it all in… he chuckled.
He sheathed his katana. The air around him paused…
Then, he spoke.
"Endless Blade."
Atticus didn't move.
But slashes roared to life around him, blotting out the skies in uncountable numbers.
Each one crimson. Each one searing.
Without pause, they shot forward, raging toward the advancing armies of wood and bone.
The two forces clashed, and then… the crimson slashes tore through everything like hot knives through butter.
The tree like creatures were reduced to splinters of blackened wood.
The creatures of sinew and bone were cleaved into steaming chunks, scorched and melted from the inside out, reduced to ash drenched bone fragments.
In an instant, the army was decimated. However, it was only the beginning.
More tree like creatures spawned from beneath Lysara's feet.
More creatures of bone and sinew raged out from the gate behind Kaelith.
Once again, they stretched into the horizon, charging toward Atticus without pause.
Atticus' gaze moved upward. It pierced through the oncoming army and landed on Lysara and Kaelith high in the sky.
They both gazed down at him with cold expressions, their killing intent evident.
Atticus spoke.
"Useless."
The army reached him… but he was gone.
Lines of crimson streaked across the beasts' figures, their numbers multiplying with each passing second.
Then… they split.
Each one sliced into multiple pieces before bursting into flames and turning to ash.
The crimson lines spread like wildfire as Atticus moved at a speed that couldn't be tracked. Not even a streak was left in his wake.
He simply appeared, and disappeared, leaving behind split remains and drifting ash.
The expressions of Lysara and Kaelith shifted. Their Wills surged higher.
But what they didn't know, was whether Atticus would ever let them reach that point.
Suddenly, a trail of red burst out from the crimson haze.
Squelch!
Lysara's eyes widened. Her gaze dropped downward to see blazing blade had pierced through her chest. It burned her from the inside.
For a second, her body froze. Then the pain came.
"AHHHHHHH!"
Lysara's scream pierced through the chaos as an unimaginable wave of agony tore through every corner of her body.
Smoke streamed from her in steady steams, and her bloodshot eyes rose, locking onto the monster inflicting her pain.
Atticus.
His grin was unchanged. And Lysara could see it now, his eyes were filled with madness.
'What is this boy!?'
She gritted her teeth, fighting the burning pain that seared through her being.
Then, with a sudden burst of strength, she raised her hand, gripping the blazing blade impaling her with all her might as she roared:
"End it!"
Kaelith appeared in a streak of white behind Atticus.
His arm rose, wrapped in sinew and bone. Without hesitation, he brought it down, splitting the air as it tore toward Atticus's head.
Atticus sent a glance backward, but when he tried to move his blade, it didn't budge.
Lysara gripped down tighter as she grinned, revealing her bloody teeths.
Kaelith's strike drew inches away from splitting Atticus's skull.
But Atticus… only chuckled.
