Evelyn immediately looked over. Seeing my gaze fixed on Olivia and Lucas's clasped hands, my stare was like molten amber.

My jaw was tightly clenched. My body was tense, clearly trying to control my wolf's possessive instincts.

Evelyn stepped to the side, blocking between me and Lucas with Olivia. She formed a clear dividing line.

Her attitude was unmistakable: I was an outsider. She was protecting Lucas, who was their chosen family.
