After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World novel Chapter 1624

Chapter 1624: Entering Trial Village

Luis, in particular, had a girlfriend to take care of (and he was also fairly rich as a strongman), so his camping gear was better than others.

His tent was one of the latest models, completely waterproof, but had the option to aerate through screens at certain areas. It also had built-in solar panels that would power the lighting and heating inside it.

He even had a small portable stove brought out in front of it. It could fit in one’s palms and used propane, which was the most popular type of stove fuel because it could handle cold and windy conditions well, and the flame control was easy. Its space requirement was also much smaller than others.

Its only con was that it was heavier than others, but since they put it in their space, this wasn’t even a problem.

After that, Luis set out a picnic blanket and then took out a small card game, and the two (and some others) huddled around to start playing.

Tacky and the rest of them couldn’t help but give him a look.

"Aren’t you setting up so much? We won’t stay here for long."

"Considering how guarded they are, only a few will get in," he said, shrugging. "It’s not gonna be me due to my level. Also, I like my fresh air."

Although it had been a while and many Terran territories had already addressed the hygiene problems to some degree, there were still plenty that had not. This was especially true for villages whose primary focus was still survival even after so long.

"So...we’re probably hanging out here for a while," he said. "You guys better gather a lot of data, though."

The others shrugged, knowing he was right. If the territory was suspicious of them, there was no way they’d allow someone of Luis’ level inside. As such, they all just waited at the camping site, pointing at each other to determine who’ll head in to investigate for everyone else.

They decided those below level 15 to be ’it’, and there were a handful of them. The people assigned to go in could only shrug, and then they started clustering together to assign jobs to each one (including particular area and information to target).

They’d update their maps, get information about the recent situation of the place, their relationships with adjacent villages as well as aborigine territories.

From afar, they looked like a casual group of friends sitting on the ground amidst the forests though.

A few people from the administration and more guards appeared at the battlements, and this camping site was what they saw. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

Pedro was the Lord’s right-hand man. When the guards ran to them, panicking, saying that powerhouses had ’surrounded’ the village, they were naturally concerned.

But...what is this?

They stood there for a few minutes to observe, determined to see any unsavory movements. A few minutes later, they were still chilling around, and then a few minutes after that Pedro and they realized the visitors weren’t even bothering with them.

Pedro sighed, made a cone with his hand, and spoke with them while he was on the battlement. He used his wind element skill [Sound Carrier] to carry his words to them without him straining his throat and his image.

"What is it that you want from our village? You are not refugees," he said, direct to the point. He didn’t want them to use the excuse of them being refugees either.

That said, it didn’t seem like they were making an effort to pretend. None of them looked pitiful at all.

They turned to him simultaneously and the villagers flinched, intimidated. For a moment, they thought the other side would attack due to the offense, except some of them turned back to whatever they were doing, and only a portion kept looking at them.

Juan and the rest of them naturally understood this thought process. In this day and age (and world), no one would go around scouting for the sake of scouting.
