Back in Bleulle City, even a week after the incident, it was still the talk of the town.
Both the Vesto and Sephon families were at the brunt of it, causing many of them to refuse to go out because they didn’t have the face to look at other people’s faces at this time.
As the families were comprised of snobs, everyone was affected—some more than others.
For example, a certain newlywed lady had just settled into her new family home.
SLAP!
A poor maid once again found herself on the ground, face red from a slap courtesy of her master.
Liaroa’s eyes were crimson as a Khola beast butt as she glared at the maid, and then at the world in general.
She planned her wedding for so long! It was supposed to be perfect!
She had spent months of thought and hundreds of gold on it. Worse, she was tied to both families involved and this meant that people who disliked either family used her as a butt of jokes, too!
How could it be ruined like that!? And she was so embarrassed! She could feel the stares and the laughter hidden behind those ’concerned’ smiles!
They would ask how she was, how she felt, and surely the evil perpetrators would be caught soon?!
She was also isolated from this household, with them believing she was a bringer of bad luck! How could they do this to her!?
Bastards! Bitches! If she got hold of those responsible—
Before she could beat up the poor maid to vent her anger, a hurried knock resounded on the door.
"Milady! Milady!"
Some of her maids assigned to the kitchen yelled out, looking pale.
Her eyes were red and she felt irritable. She wondered if they would let themselves offer their faces so she could slap them?
However, what they said next caused her to lose blood on her face.
"The Master has returned! He’s gravely injured!"
"What?!" she screamed, immediately heading out and didn’t bother ask for details.
Nononono—because of all the chaos and the investigating everyone had to do, they hadn’t even had their first night as a married couple yet! She was not pregnant yet! He could not die!
She ran to the living area where the members of the family were being treated. Some were healthy enough to be taken to their rooms, with the rest using the living room as a waiting room of sorts.
"We had already sent them to the Healing Sanctuary, which is why most still survived, but there’s still a bit to recover from," the healer said as he watched the patients—including Eveco and Ewan—taken to their rooms for monitored care.
Her husband, Eveco, had a lot of injuries and seemed to have a lot of scars on his face, which made Lia’s stomach tumble in disgust, but then she saw Ewan—the heir—had actually lost a leg!
This... was not too bad??
If Ewan were disabled, then her husband—
Seeing this, she had to stop herself from smirking. She physically had to cover her mouth with her hand and just pretended to sob when she was actually smiling.
The sound she made made her mother-in-law and the other women—including Ewan’s mother—turn to her. For a moment, she thought she had revealed herself, only to realize they were just irksome in general.
People would think that something was wrong with her!
