After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World novel Chapter 1515

Chapter 1515: Condition of Flaret Town

Meanwhile, the streets of Flaret Town was dark and grim, though arguably some people could barely feel the poverty—only the highs.

The powder had to be sold and tested somewhere first, after all, and when Peaco realized its potential, he made many citizens taste it. He and Felipe observed the effects depending on the person’s level and strength, and soon they came up with the right formulations to target as many people as they could.

Soon, after getting hundreds of people addicted to the powders, they started charging for them. By this time, these people were more than willing to empty their wallets for a few bags, and then sell all their assets for a few more.

Some even sold their families—especially their daughters, and even their wives—when they already lost everything.

The sales also expanded to nobles and the like who were stronger and were thus not as affected as the weaker folk. For the most part, they only enjoyed the ’highs’ and this simply cemented their worldview that they were far superior to commoners who could not ’overcome’ the happy powder.

There was even a rumor that went around saying that taking the powder was the key to happiness, but only those who were strong enough would truly be able to enjoy it.

This made more and more people want to try it out of curiosity, and it was also the spike of the widespread perception of the drug as a status symbol.

People did not know that darkness loomed over everyone’s heads, including the nobles’.

The darkness was especially true in the commoner area of Flaret Town, which was now even darker than ever, with half-insane people walking around, practically naked, while those with sanity found themselves excessively irate, wanting to kill or torture others just to make themselves feel a bit better.

The slums were already bad, but most of the addicts there could not afford the new drugs and, combined with their low levels, just died very early on.

In contrast, commoners were the primary clientele other than nobles, and it was questionable whether they were still alive.

At this time, a small group of aborigine men were having fun tormenting their Terran slaves.

Bang!

"No! Please! Stop!!"

The woman yelled, begging for them to stop beating her husband. However, the mania in their eyes was strong, and they continued kicking her poor husband curled on the ground.

The aborigines were cruel from the start, but they had become much worse now!

The woman cried as she watched. She was a slave, and she was ordered to stay still while they beat up her husband.

BANG! PAK!

"NOO!! PLEASE!" she cried, but she could not even look away, because she was ordered to watch every step of the process!

Bang! Kick! Bam! 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

They left him alive with a breath. The aborigine grabbed a fistful of his hair "Be thankful you’re alive. Why? Because it’s your turn to watch."

The woman’s already clenched heart tightened even more, and she watched with wide eyes as they approached her.

From behind them, she could see her half-dead husband on the ground, facing her direction, crying as he looked in her direction in despair. However, like her, he could not move, ordered to watch everything about to transpire.

"KYAAAA!" she screamed, wanting to struggle, but her enslaved body refused to move as she willed. "SOMEONE! PLEASE HELP US!"

The men didn’t order her to shut up though. They liked hearing her scream. Behind them, the husband’s eyes were wide as his tears flowed, but he could not even lift a finger.

Rip!

A portion of the woman’s clothes was torn, and her upper body was exposed to the eyes of many men, and her body was pushed back to the dirty street of the alley.

This had always been a common sight here. Slaves roamed around freely doing chores, gathering resources for the territory and so on. Most citizens tended to ignore them and just saw them as part of the landscape they took for granted.

However... some took joy in basking in their superiority.

This was especially true of these men, whose levels were below average in a Town. However, they were far stronger than most Terrans and harassed them.

They could now kick down precious elementalists, after all!

Every day, somewhere along the alleyways, streets, houses, or even in the open air, some form of abuse of Terran slaves happened.
