"Where did you say Guia was?" one said. "How far is it?"
Silvia and Rowan slightly turned their heads to get a better look at these people. They did not want to judge by appearances, but they looked dark and unfriendly, so they were likely foes.
Not to mention, people who had a lot of blood on their hands and had no remorse had a certain aura around them. All of these men were like that.
The two listened in on every discussion they had. Fortunately, the enemies either didn’t have a voice blocker or did not see a reason to bother with it, so they could hear everything they were talking about.
"It should take about a day from here by beast car," one said. "There’s time.
"We can take a break here and maybe get some sluts to release some stress."
"I really hate travelling," another said. "This Town is so weak, it doesn’t even have a mercenary hall."
The couple continued to listen closely to them, but they didn’t neglect the others. They also listened to what the other tables had to say, particularly about these mercenaries.
Through these third parties, they heard about the identity of these newcomers.
They were apparently the members of the Yutot Mercenary Team—a very familiar team to them in the Iron Mountains.
It was the mercenary team that came to Iron Mountains back then. All of its members were now either imprisoned or killed.
They were, apparently, from a more powerful town named Valov further West. They were well-known in Voumi because of some partnerships. Valov also passed by Voumi whenever they had any business South or East.
Anyway, they confirmed the fact that this was an enemy group, and one that was heading straight to their territory the next day. The groups the mercenary team sent out also increased in levels, so they were no match for the enemies in this batch.
They would have to get a bit... creative.
Fortunately, Miss Althea and the others made sure to equip them well. Although they lacked her pharmacy-grade healing potions now due to the excessive demand back home, their spaces were filled with potions from the pharmacy.
They also still had a protective charm as well as a couple of other... things that might prove useful sooner rather than later.
The two of their eyes shared a look, and they stood up.
Things happened fast. The two abruptly stood up and, before anyone could absorb what was going on, the smaller Silvio raised his hand and hit the taller man with the dyed ebony hair.
Slap!
"YOU BASTARD!"
The bar’s noise seemed to have been silenced by the suddenness and everyone looked at the two people fighting.
Rowan gritted his teeth and grabbed the collar of Silvio’s coat. "What do you think you’re doing?"
"You dare date my sister without telling me?!" Silvio yelled, grabbing his collar, seemingly unintimidated by the fact that the man in front of ’him’ was more than a head taller. "You bastard! I should’ve known!
"I didn’t think much because you had a stoic face on, but you’re really just a beast!"
Rowan’s eyes twitched, and he almost broke character.
The Yutot mercenary wanted to just punch the heck out of the two men, though some of them wanted to watch a good show, so they didn’t intervene.
"I... love your sister..." Rowan droned. He wasn’t a very good actor, but drunk people generally acted oddly anyway.
He then fell down on the ground, as if kneeling. "Very much. Love her."
Silvio twitched and calmed down a bit. Pushing down the light blush on her cheek, she acted as if she were reluctant to listen to what the other man had to say.
"Come. I’ll ask her myself what to make of this," he said, pulling Rowan’s arm as she dragged him out.
They didn’t want these people to follow them, of course, so Silvio made an impromptu ’plot twist’.
Silvio grabbed Rowan’s face with her hand and leaned down a bit, appearing extremely ambiguous. "I need to know who you love more."
"..."
Anyway, they left before any of the Yutot mercenary members could react to this.
"What in the Gugu Birds..." the mercenaries sneered, debating whether or not to slap the bastards just for the heck of it, but decided they didn’t want to dirty their hands by touching queers.
"Whatever," another said. "Anyway, book a few women! I need to wash my eyes."
"I agree!"
The mercenaries all agreed to go to a brothel after this and they sat back down to eat their meals and down their drinks.
...not knowing it would be their last.
