After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World novel Chapter 1364

Chapter 1364: A Little About Holt

Cauis assumed that the things they brought in were products from their world, which was also very interesting in its own way.

He, as the princes’ playmate, also had access to some parts of the Holt Royal Library. He was a bibliophile and to be honest he was better-read than most of the royals.

He had read records about how the new civilizations affected them and, frankly, it wasn’t much except for maybe adding millions of people and diversifying the humanoid bloodline.

Even if they had technologies from their previous world, none of those seemed to have made an impact to Xeno, or even just the human realm, in any significant way at all.

For instance, the previous Migrators, the Novans, seemed to have died out or become enslaved in less than a year of their arrival. Most people did not even remember they arrived at all.

However, many nobles with large resources, including Holt nobles, wanted to explore more and see if the new set of people could be used elsewhere.

A lot of people bought a lot of Novan slaves, studying them, and attempted to understand and determine what these people knew or could contribute to their own power and influence.

According to the scrolls, it seemed like they were seafaring people with good abilities related to that field.

However, Xeno was a supercontinent with a massive area that could take decades to traverse. How many seas and oceans did they have? And how useful could those be in their situation?

It was estimated that the majority of Xenoans did not even have a concept of such large bodies of water.

In contrast, this new civilization had just been here a year and they had already integrated to this degree. Who would not be curious?

Mattheo silently replaced the now-cold tea with fresh ones, and Cauis nodded at him, taking a sip.

“Other than food, what else did people say they do better than others?”

This time, it was Mattheo himself who reported. He managed to dine in with some visiting Lords earlier on, treating them to a decent meal in a higher-end restaurant in Town.

Mattheo was also in his late level 30s and had an aura about him, so even if they didn’t know who he was, he was treated with due respect.

“They seem to have various type of cloth—all of which could become affordable alternatives to what all three cloth cities could create,” he said, taking a piece from his space and placed it on the table in front of Cauis.

It was a handkerchief, a multicolored one with clean patterns. At a glance, one could see the quality was superior. “It is untouched, Master, don’t worry.

“It is said to be bought from Twinwave Town, but I had been there before and they did not have this technology,” Mattheo said, reporting with that usual deadpan way of his. “I assume it is also an Alterran product.”

He bought it for a pretty good price, which the merchant happily accepted.

Cauis looked at the fabric, his hands lifted from the cup and to the soft fabric in front of him.

Although he didn’t brag about it, Cauis was the heir of the Glen family, an upper-mid-tier noble family in Holt City. He had been trained with the various arts, strategy, analysis, and the like, and this included how to handle the family well—which was much more than some noble children had.

He had always excelled, too, and there were few things that could intrigue him. To think he’d find such… interesting information for a trip that wasn’t supposed to mean anything.

Going to Voumi for the Slave Auction was really random decision he made on a whim. He just so happened to be visiting a family Village for his annual rounds, as per his duty as part of the family. He took a stopover in a nearby Town and was hosted by the Lord there, simply after seeing his level.

The man received the invitation to the slave auction, and he decided to tag along, though he went through the Mercenary Hall under the small mercenary team his family owned.

Normally, a newly upgraded town shouldn’t even enter their line of sight. However, he had a nagging feeling that should not be ignored.

Holt City was one of the greatest—if not the greatest—cities in the human realm, and one of his goals had always been to increase their family’s standing there, something he believed they deserved.

He had been wondering what he should do, to get as much advantage for his family with this knowledge.

His hand unconsciously rubbed the handkerchief in his hand.

Perhaps… this was the chance he had been waiting for.
