After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World novel Chapter 1331

As they jumped down and headed to the array, Tambai and his brother couldn't help but look at the two kids following them. "How'd you find us?"

"I… I overheard you before," he said, looking at Tanod. "That you'll be escaping via a wall around the safest place near the array."

He was referring to the time when they had just escaped and were pointed out to the location of their rescuer's friends. Those people helped them leave the Palace, and then they were told to find a hiding place until the war was over.

The rest of them were too cowardly and just followed their instructions, finding the best hiding places they could find. Whether it was in the shrubs, between alleys, or next to random boxes, they did their best to be undetectable.

Except for Jord, who also dragged a friend with him.

Jord was a newly captured 'slave', though not in the system sense because he had been sold by his own parents.

Wen was his best friend who had always been meek, but the experience under the Lord's group made him completely closed off. Wen's parents died in a war a year ago, and he had been orphaned, alone, and helpless since then.

The children in that room were 'lent' to several of the Lord's cronies. They were cleaned up and trained to be 'good boys' and it made their stomachs tumble every time they remembered it.

No matter what happened in this war, they didn't want to get back to that room again!

Regardless, staying in Basset would mean either death or being thrown in that room again!

And… according to what they had heard… these people were from the Town they were attacking! That meant they were going to where his brother could be! How could he miss this chance?

As for the last one, he didn't say, but the rest of his explanation seemed to be acceptable to the adults.

Tambay accepted this explanation, but Tanod couldn't help but think deeply. "How did you know where we'd go?"

The array on the attackers' side was always a hundred meters or so from a gate. The area around the gates was guarded, so they naturally chose an area without a sentry and a guard. How'd these kids know which way they were heading exactly?

Jord pursed his lips, reluctant. But, afraid they'd get abandoned, he decided to be honest. "I have very very sharp sight," he said. "I awakened a skill."

"Oh?" they said, and just continued moving forward along with the others.

Jord nodded, relieved that he was accepted, and then also looked forward to see where they'd go next and what was the next plan.

His feet paused, though, when he realized they were literally barreling through to the arrays!

He thought they'd have a strategy at least!

"You're going straight to the array?!" The kid exclaimed. He was old enough to know about the wars. "But there are guards there!"

"We have no choice! Chris needs immediate attention!"

Jord didn't quite understand why they were still carrying a deadweight—this just didn't fit in the common sense he grew up with—but he didn't say it out loud.

They were definitely sending them to help during the war. It felt a pity to waste them, and he was tempted to blow them to the array with strong winds, but that would just send those resources to the mobs attacking Alterra.

"I… have one more bomb…" a weak voice sounded behind him. And Chris' shaky arms moved to reveal the bomb.

"You…"

However, Chris had lost consciousness again, so Eagle couldn't ask anymore questions.

In fact, Chris was tempted to use it when Fargo was in the dungeons with him. However, he would get bombed too. He didn't feel hopeless enough to endanger his life like that. He had a fiancee waiting for him, after all.

Not to mention, Fargo was already past level 20 as well and was perfectly healthy at the time. Because he was tied up, there was a chance he would be unable to light it up before Fargo noticed. The damage might not be lethal, either.

Eagle knew Chris well enough to have an idea of what happened, and his eyes pooled a little. However, a soldier was a soldier and he was able to compartmentalize, focusing on the tasks at hand.

He transferred Chris to Tanod's hands. "Prepare to run after me," he said. "Keep a meter distance," he said, before he rushed forward, using his stealth skills to go around the target area, 20 or so meters from the resources.

Eagle then activated the bomb and threw it straight at the resources, using his wind ability to make sure it landed where it should.
