While Eagle had taken care of most guards in the prison while they were taken down by the sleeping bomb, there was apparently another entrance to a smaller set of cells underneath. It went down half a floor, and there were two guards there, a level 27 and a level 28. free𝑤ebnovel.com
The bomb reached this area, too, but it was already thinned out. So by the time they reached the access here, they were already up and immediately went to attack the intruders.
Eagle stepped back, and his new companion swooped in, grabbing the two guards' necks and started to beat them up in that narrow hallway.
"Ahhhh!"
"Gahhhh!"
"HEH, I remember you two!" the man said with a gritted smile. He slammed their heads together easily, making them dizzy.
Bam!
"It must've been so satisfying torturing someone so tied up yeah?" he said, and then proceeded to drag their faces on the wall of the dungeon.
Obviously, the guards here really caused this guy quite a bit of pain. Considering he was stronger and was probably from a more powerful territory, his pride must've been hurt a lot too.
Eagle watched as the man beat up the guards with ease. He must only be a few levels higher than they were, but his skills and power were really far superior than they were.
Eagle had no idea how such a man was captured and why, but he didn't care enough and he just walked past the ongoing torture to enter the next rooms as soon as he could, not really caring what was going on outside.
The lower dungeons had two rooms. They were apparently sealed rooms that no wind would enter. The only source of air would probably be the door itself, allowing just enough air to (barely) breathe, but not enough to compress anything that could cause damage, which was probably why Fargo brought Chris here instead.
The first cell was empty. It was stuffy and smelly, and obviously many people had suffered there through the years.
The other, though—
Eagle gasped as he saw the bloody sight that made his blood turn cold. The place was full of blood, with Chris decidedly lacking a leg!
"CHRIS!!" He yelled, kneeling down and opening the healing potion to heal him. All he saw was red and was unsure how much bleeding was still going on, but he did not have the time to study that.
"Shitshitshit…" Eagle sobbed, shakily trying to keep him awake.
"Ah, Eagle…" Chris said, slowly opening his eyes. He shook his head as if not wanting to drink the potion. "Keep it… I'm sure you don't h…ave many any…more…"
Eagle's eyes widened in disbelief. Was he giving up?! What about Aditi!!
"Damnit! Chris! Stay with me!!!" he screamed, shaking him awake. However, Chris just smiled at him… and slowly closed his eyes.
…
…
…
But he was breathing.
Very stably, in fact.
"..."
Eagle heaved a deep breath, and checked his situation, blinking when he realized that the wound on Chris' leg had clotted even before.
"Shit…" he cursed. He (literally) had his hands full, with him focused on keeping Chris safe on him.
This was two versus a dozen, with an additional handicap of him being unable to move well. The enemy levels weren't low either, the lowest level of whom was level 25.
Even if he focused on escaping, could he really get Chris out of this unharmed?
"Hey," the redhead called him from the side.
Eagle turned to see his companion with obvious bloodlust on his face. He then lifted his palm and let out blue flames—the hottest kind.
"As a return to the favor, I'll deal with these bastards. You can go."
"What?" He asked, but Eagle had no time to question it. Instead, he just nodded. "Thanks," he said, holding Chris tighter as he prepared his escape.
Using a lot of his remaining mana, he summoned winds around him. A moment later, he dashed in a direction, using the winds to boost his speed to the point that the enemies gasped in surprise.
"HEY!"
"YOU—"
However, before they could turn to follow, a sizzling line of blue flames blocked the guards' way.
The redhead grinned, the ink on his body looking particularly intimidating.
"Time to pay for the humiliation you people put me through."
