The Lane Group.
Jordan barely made it out of the elevator before his gorgeous secretary, Malvina, greeted him with a bright smile.
"Jordan."
Her voice was so sweet it practically melted him right there. He slipped an arm around her waist, pulled her close, and pressed her gently against the wall, leaning in for a kiss. Their lips met, slow at first, then hungry and searching. Just as his hand started to wander toward the neckline of her blouse, Malvina caught him with a playful laugh.
"Jordan, this is work," she whispered, grinning up at him. "We can’t get too wild here. If someone sees us and your wife hears about it, I’m doomed."
Jordan just gave her another squeeze, content for the moment.
They made their way down the hall arm in arm, looking like nothing more than boss and assistant if you didn’t know better.
"I missed you so much," he said, his tone light but honest. "It was only one night apart, but it felt like forever."
Malvina giggled. "What, your wife didn’t wear you out? Still thinking about me?"
He rolled his eyes. "She’s got more energy than ever. Honestly, I’m the one struggling to keep up."
This morning, he and Natalie had already hooked up twice. Usually, he was the one pushing for more, but today Natalie had surprised him. If he hadn’t called it quits, saying he needed to get to work, she probably would have pulled him back for round three. He could tell she was desperate to get pregnant. It was her fertile window, after all.
Malvina snorted. "She just wants to drain you dry so you won’t have anything left for your side chick."
He shook his head. "It’s not like that. She’s just anxious to have a baby. We really need one. Last time, she got pregnant and I was over the moon. But only a couple of days later, she had a miscarriage. It was tough."
Malvina pursed her lips. "Maybe there’s something wrong with her health. Or maybe she ate something bad. That sort of thing can mess with a pregnancy."
