After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 741

He wasn’t in any rush to let Deborah take over as housekeeper. She’d just moved in, didn’t know the ropes, and nobody respected her yet. So, he went along with Natalie’s suggestion.

“If you really think managing the house won’t mess with your plans to have a baby, then keep running things. Deborah’s new here, she still needs time to get the hang of it.”

Deborah grinned. “That’s true, I have no idea what I’m doing. It’s better if Natalie keeps things under control. I’m happy to relax. Jackson, I can tag along with you to your business dinners and make sure you eat well every day.”

She shot him a sweet look. “I’ll take care of you, just like a good wife should.”

In her mind, she added, I’ll cook for him every day until he’s got high blood pressure and cholesterol.

Jackson met her gaze, his eyes softening with amusement.

Jordan couldn’t take it anymore. He stood up, his face blank. “Dad, I’m heading to work.”

“Alright, go. Be home for dinner. We should have a family meal. Kevin hasn’t even met Natalie yet.”

Jackson turned to Natalie. “Natalie, get a room ready for Kevin. Make sure it’s got good sunlight. He’s still studying, and bad lighting isn’t good for his schoolwork.”

Natalie bit back her anger and forced a calm, “Okay.”

She followed Jordan outside.

Once they’d left the main house and reached the open parking lot, far from curious ears, Jordan slammed his fist onto his car.

Natalie jumped in to stop him. “Hey, that’s your car. Why are you taking it out on your own stuff? Breaking your car isn’t going to fix anything. You can’t do anything about your dad, so what’s the point?”

She lowered her voice. “Hasn’t Mandy done anything useful yet? We didn’t bring her here just to let her sit around and enjoy herself.”
