After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 731

Natalie wrapped her arms around Ethan again, her hands tugging at his shirt. “Ethan, let’s be together. I want a baby. Your baby.”

She pressed closer, her voice trembling. “I don’t think Jordan’s genes are any good. I got pregnant with his child once, but I lost it. It’s been so long and I still can’t get pregnant again. It has to be him. I just want to be a mom. I want a sweet, healthy baby. Please, give me that chance.”

“If you don’t want to keep things going between us, that’s fine. All I want is your child. Once I’m pregnant, I’ll keep my distance, just like before. I just need to know you still care about me, that you still love me.”

Ethan pushed her off with more force than he meant to. Natalie stumbled and hit the floor hard, pain shooting through her as she sat there, stunned.

She looked up at him, tears welling in her eyes. Was he really done with her?

“Natalie, if you keep this up, I’m really going to lose my temper.”

He smoothed out his pajamas, his face cold, harder than she’d ever seen it. For the first time, he looked at her like a stranger.

“There’s nothing possible between us,” he said.

“Yes, I loved you. I wanted to tell you, but Jordan got there first. We grew up together. He’s like a brother to me. I couldn’t just step in after he confessed.”

“And you accepted him so quickly. You didn’t even give me a chance to figure out what I felt or to regret not saying anything.”

“Natalie, from the day you married Jordan, that was it for us. I was an idiot, holding onto my feelings for you and hurting Isabella, who never deserved it. My divorce was just karma catching up with me.”

“I can’t keep living in the past. That would be unfair to Jordan and would always be a wedge in your marriage. I’m supposed to be your friend. I should be looking out for both of you.”

“The only way to finally heal things is for me to walk away for good.”
