After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 712

Janetta smiled and said, “Laura, the Mason family might be well known, but we’re not nearly as strict as some of those other rich families. Honestly, we try to keep things open-minded around here.”

“As long as our kids are happy, with someone who’s a decent person and comes from a good background, that’s all we care about. Their happiness is what matters most.”

“We’re comfortable enough that Jesse doesn’t have to marry for business or connections. He’s more than capable of taking care of the family on his own.”

Janetta reached over and gently squeezed Laura’s hand, her eyes warm. “Laura, everyone in our family likes you. Don’t worry, we raised Jesse ourselves. We know exactly what kind of man he is.”

“He’s always been someone who takes care of his family. Why not give him a chance? We’d honestly be thrilled if you joined us.”

Laura found herself at a loss for words.

Suddenly, everything made sense. Janetta hadn’t come to hand her a check or demand she stay away from Jesse. She was here to speak up for him, to show Laura all those photos, to make sure she understood how much Jesse had done for her.

He’d learned to cook just so she could have good meals. He’d worked hard to get past his obsession with cleanliness, all so he could be comfortable in her world. He’d even brought her family new business opportunities, helping their company grow and bringing them more respect.

Jesse had done so much for her behind the scenes. And through it all, he’d always respected her, never once pushing her or making her feel trapped.

“Laura, I’m not trying to pressure you. I just think you deserve to know what Jesse’s been doing. I know you don’t dislike him. You just worry there’s too much of a gap between your worlds.”

“You’re afraid you’re not good enough for Jesse. But I promise you, our family would never look down on you. We would never think you’re not worthy of him.”
