After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 687

“Exactly, young people should get out and explore a little,” Cynthia said. “How are things with you, Isabella? Has the Lane family caused any trouble? Did Natalie and Sophia get out already?”

Isabella hadn’t kept the whole drugging incident a secret from her mom.

She smiled. “Mom, just relax and have fun. I’m doing great. Ethan and I officially got our divorce certificate today, so I’m not Mrs. Adams anymore. He and I are completely done.”

“Things have been quiet on my end. The Lanes have so much drama going on, I doubt they have the energy to mess with me. Jordan did come by and yell at me when Natalie was detained, but I just ignored him.”

Isabella knew exactly what was going on with the Lane family. Harold made sure someone kept an eye on them, so she always heard about any little thing that happened.

“Those two were released a while ago. It was just a fifteen-day detention, so they were out in no time.”

Cynthia understood that Isabella had hoped Natalie would get a real sentence. But with the Lane family, the Gates family, and Ethan all protecting her, and since what Natalie did didn’t cause any serious consequences, plus the victim forgave them, Natalie and Sophia only got a slap on the wrist.

She tried to comfort her daughter. “Isabella, you need to let this go. There’s no point dwelling on it. People like her have too much power for us to do anything.”

“Mom, I’m not stuck on it. I knew how this would end. Ethan always takes her side. It’s not even the first time.”

Every time Natalie was involved, Ethan would bend over backwards for her, no matter how unreasonable it was. Even when Isabella was clearly right, Ethan would still expect her to apologize to Natalie.

Thank goodness all of that was finally over.

“From now on, as long as she stays out of my way, I’ll just pretend she doesn’t exist.”
