After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 684

Isabella glanced at him for a moment, then turned away without saying a word.

She had worked so hard to get him to agree to the divorce and finally escape that miserable situation. There was no way she was going to throw herself back into the same mess. This time, she had let go of her feelings for him, which is why they were able to split up so early. If she ever softened and agreed to get back together, she knew she’d just end up repeating the same old story as before. She refused to let that happen.

After what she’d been through, Isabella valued her life more than ever. Now she had money, her own place, a car, savings, and a booming business. She didn’t want to risk any of that. She wanted to live a long and happy life.

Ethan could tell she didn’t want to talk about it. He stayed quiet, just watching her. He tried to reach for her hand, but as soon as his fingers brushed hers, she pulled away like she’d been shocked.

It hurt him in a way he hadn’t expected. Back then, he had always kept his guard up, never wanting her to get too close. Now all he wanted was to hold her hand, and she wouldn’t even let him do that.

They waited for nearly an hour before their turn finally came.

Isabella was firm about the divorce. Ethan hesitated, but when the clerk asked what he wanted, he agreed. Since they were both on the same page, the clerk quickly finished the paperwork.

When Isabella finally had the divorce certificate in her hand, she breathed a real sigh of relief. She even found herself being kinder to Ethan. She reached out her right hand and said, “Ethan, you’ve hurt me, but you’ve also given me a lot. Let’s end this on good terms.”

Ethan took her hand and didn’t let go for a long time. His voice was low and serious. “Isabella, I’m not giving up on you. I’m going to try again.”

Isabella smiled. “That’s your choice, but I get to say no if I want.”
