After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 671

Survival of the fittest. That was the rule, whether you were clawing your way through society or trying to make it in the cutthroat world of business. Only the toughest could break through and make a name for themselves.

Isabella’s phone buzzed.

She glanced at the screen. Harold. She answered right away.

“Isabella, are you in Kaston yet?”

“We just got to the hotel. We checked in, and I’m going to rest for a bit before heading to the office.”

Harold let out a relieved sigh. “That’s good. I knew you two were driving, so I didn’t want to call and distract you. I waited until I figured you’d arrived.”

“Thanks for checking on me, Harold.”

“We’re friends. It’s normal to care about each other.”

Standing nearby, Linda listened in, rolling her eyes in her mind. Harold was acting this way because he was into Isabella, that much was obvious. He hadn’t asked about Linda. He never did, because he wasn’t interested in her. Only Isabella seemed oblivious, actually believing Harold was just being nice because of Barbara.

Isabella was still new to the business world. She was a little too innocent to keep up with these old pros. For all she knew, even Barbara’s friendship with her might have been because of Harold.

But Linda kept quiet. This was between Isabella and Harold, and she didn’t see the point in saying it out loud. She might drop a hint or two, but if Isabella ever started to wonder about Harold’s intentions, she’d have to ask him herself.

Honestly, Harold was moving fast. Isabella wasn’t even officially divorced yet, and he was already hovering like he couldn’t wait for his turn.

Isabella and Harold chatted for a bit longer before saying goodbye.

After hanging up, Linda took Isabella out for something to eat. Only after they’d had a meal did they head over to the company.
