Ethan opened his mouth, ready to say something, but the words just wouldn’t come out. He swallowed them back, knowing it was too late for anything he could say to make a difference. Isabella had already given up on him, and nothing he said now would change that.
“You should get some sleep, Ethan.”
In his dreams, Isabella was still his wife. Susan thought it, but she kept it to herself.
Looking back, Susan realized that none of the staff, including herself, had treated Isabella well. Most of them barely saw her, but Susan interacted with her every day. Since Ethan and Isabella had been sleeping in separate rooms from the start, Susan never really saw Isabella as her boss. She hadn’t been kind to her either.
Later, when it became obvious that Ethan actually cared about Isabella, Susan quickly tried to change her attitude. But by then, her efforts were pointless. She couldn’t help Ethan, no matter what she did.
Ethan set his phone down in silence.

The next morning, Isabella went straight to the branch office Barbara managed. They wrapped up their business deal without any problems. After that, Isabella headed to Linda’s company, and the two of them grabbed lunch together.
Later, as Isabella was about to leave for her own office, her phone buzzed. Laura was calling.
“Isabella, do you have a minute?”
“What’s up? I just finished lunch with Linda. I was about to go back and take a quick nap before spending the afternoon reading scripts. I’m filming with the crew tomorrow.”
Laura sighed. “Sophia’s here again.”
