Isabella let out a cold laugh. Honestly, she wanted to tell him that all the trouble she’d gotten into in her last life was because of him and Natalie.
He always took Natalie’s side. She got jealous, she got frustrated, and so she kept fighting, kept lashing out, pushing away more and more people.
But when the words were right there, she stopped herself. What was the point? Even if she said it, he’d never believe her.
After two lifetimes, he still chose Natalie every single time.
At least this time around, she was done fighting, done competing, done making scenes. Once the divorce went through, she’d get her real fresh start. Her drama series had blown up, which meant way more money. She could invest in Linda and Barbara’s projects. Even if she lost the title of Mrs. Adams, she’d be just fine on her own. She’d have her freedom, her independence. She didn’t need to explain anything to him.
“If I have those dreams again tonight, don’t wake me up. Let me dream as long as I want. Maybe I’ll finally figure out who’s really behind everything.”
Isabella just said, “Alright, I won’t wake you.”
She knew he could dream about their past life, so of course she wouldn’t wake him. When she’d died, her soul only lingered for a moment before she was pulled back here, so she had no idea what happened after. But Ethan had survived. He must have seen what happened next, must have found out who was responsible for her death.
If it really was Natalie... She wondered if Ethan would ever stand up for her, or if he’d just keep covering for Natalie like always.
With the way he was obsessed with Natalie, Isabella figured he’d probably protect her, no matter what.
“Barbara and Linda both brought you food today. They’re getting really nice all of a sudden. I wonder what they’re after,” Ethan cut in.
Isabella frowned at him. “Barbara and Linda are my friends, and my business partners. Why do you always think the worst? They care about me, so what?”
