"So you just smash things because I told you to? You clearly have a massive grudge against Isabella yourselves. You hate her for not handing over her money and bowing to your demands. If murder wasn't a crime, you would have torn her to pieces ages ago!"
Natalie sneered, crossing her arms. "Don't try to pin your own crimes on me. You claim I paid you to vandalize the cafe, but do you have any actual proof?"
She had paid them in cold, hard cash.
None of them had taken photos, and her name certainly wasn't stamped on the bills. How could they possibly prove a thing?
The George family immediately fell silent, completely stumped.
"Officers, I admit I stood by and fanned the flames. Isabella is my absolute worst enemy. She's done so many things to ruin my life, but she's sly. She always dances right on the edge of the law without actually committing a crime."
"But the damage she's done to me is real, and I despise her for it. So what if I threw a few encouraging words around when someone else came to trash my enemy's shop? If you were in my shoes, wouldn't you do the same? Wouldn't you gloat a little?"
"I didn't break a single thing in this store. Don't even think about making me pay for the damages."
Natalie casually rested a hand over her lower abdomen and pulled out her medical records. "I'm pregnant."
She was expecting a child.
Even if this entire situation had crossed the line into a criminal offense, the police couldn't just throw a pregnant woman into a jail cell on a whim.
At that moment, Natalie felt completely untouchable.
When Natalie announced her pregnancy, Isabella let out a quiet sigh in her mind. Right. She had forgotten that Natalie was pregnant. It looked like the law wasn't going to touch her this time either.
"Natalie!"
Adelina and Fitzgerald hurried through the cafe doors. Someone must have tipped them off.
