A Mate For The Last Lycan novel Chapter 70

Chapter 70: HIS GAZE TURNED MALICE

When Dacre entered the queen's bedroom, he dismissed all the servants that served her and found his queen was still on the bed, curling herself into fetal position, hiding under the blanket.

"I brought a flower for you."

Dacre sat down on the edge of the bed and patted her head over the blanket, she was trembling against his touch, but not in a good way. She was afraid of him after what happened that night.

Nycta was still shocked and couldn't bring herself to accept what actually had occurred.

Meanwhile, Dacre had been nothing, but sweet to her. He was being exceptionally patient with her. If it was not for that night, Nycta would still think the king was the best mate that she could have and how lucky she was to be picked by him as his queen.

"It has been two weeks, can we talk about this now?" Dacre waited for her reaction and when she didn't say anything, he stood up. "Let's talk about this later when you already calmed."

The king was about to leave when finally Nycta opened her mouth.

"Did..." her voice was hoarse and she was a little bit stuttering. "Did you do the same thing to my sister? Did you force her to do that too?" She shuddered when the memories from that night came flooding back to her mind. She was mortified.

"Yes." Dacre didn't even try to lie to her. Eventually, she needed to understand the situation.

He heard her sniffling, she was crying and Dacre waited until she could compose herself and asked more question. This was good, if she was still asking questions.

"Why? Why did you do that to her? Why did you do that to me?"

This time, Dacre went back to the bed and pulled the blanket from over her head. Nycta let him to see how he broke her heart. She had been crying for days and now her eyes were so red. She was a mess.

"Because I can't have a child on my own and I need an heir to secure my position." Dacre looked at her in the eyes when he reiterated all of that. "As you can see, the elders have been agitated about the problem with the heir and there were so many people supported my brother, Xaden, to dethrone me because I don't have an heir."

"You... you couldn't have a child?" Nycta gasped. She didn't believe what she heard, but that was exactly what he told her.

"Yes." Dacre admitted it readily, he avoided her eyes and looked elsewhere, while Nycta pushed herself up into sitting position. "What happened?" her voice was still hoarse, but it laced with concern.

He sat down on the edge of the bed and looked down, trying to avoid her eyes, as he answered her question.

"I think I was born this way." Dacre told her that when he and Rimera had been mated for a year and she had not yet gotten pregnant, a healer told them the problem was not with her, but with him. He couldn't get any women pregnant. "I am not as perfect as you thought I am, Nycta." He flashed her a sad smile that made her heart ached. "I didn't want you to do it. I can't bear to see someone else touched you, but it's beyond my control."

It could be said as a humiliation for him to tell her about his condition.

"It killed me to see someone else touched you, Nycta," Dacre said again, his voice was trembling and a tear fell on his cheek.

"Oh, Dacre..." Nycta was startled to see the king was crying, out of instinct, she immediately hugged him tightly. "I am sorry for the way I behaved, I understood what you have gone through. I am sorry that I didn't try to understand you before."

Dacre shook his head. "Don't be sorry, the blame is on me. I am grateful that you understood

it now."

It was not easy, but Nycta finally said it.

"I will help you... I will try... We can fix this."

"Thank you, Nycta. Thank you."

And with that, the sadness in Dacre's eyes vanished, as his gaze turned malice.
