A Mate For The Last Lycan novel Chapter 43

Chapter 43: CRUEL AND WICKED

Zuri didn't know whether it was a good thing or not that even until now, she had not gotten pregnant. In this case, she needed to try again and again to conceive. The sex was exhausting. It was an endless chore, but for what it was worth, she could use their intimate moment to dig deeper into Xaden and her father's plan.

Xaden would always talk more when he was inside her, as she pleased him.

It was very laughable to see how he tried to be a better mate after he had learned her value, thinking he could use Zuri's talent for his own benefit, for his pack. He wanted to become as rich as the River Creek pack after all.

Everything was about benefits. Even Khaos was no different from them. He was also looking to benefit from her by obtaining information about what her mate and her father were up to.

But at the very least, with Khaos, Zuri chose it.

"Alpha Khaos is here, Luna," Esther told her. She combed Zuri's hair, while Sarah was clipping her nails. "He wanted to give back the cub to you."

Zuri stood up when she heard that, which caused Sarah to cut her skin and drew blood. "Oh, I am sorry, Luna, I am sorry."

Yet, Zuri simply waved her hand and swiftly walked out of her bedroom. The wound on her finger had healed by the time she met with Khaos in the living room. He was with Gayle, who was holding her white wolf cub.

"You don't seem happy to see me," Khaos teased her lightly, as he gestured for Gayle to give back the wolf cub to her and after that, he left the room, leaving the two of them alone.

Zuri cradled her cub and it licked her finger, which made her giggle.

"I think my four hour journey paid off to see such a beautiful smile."

"You really know what to say. I wonder why you still haven't found a chosen mate yet." Zuri peered through her long lashes.

"I am waiting for you."

Rolling her eyes, Zuri then recited what she knew about the coup that her mate and her father had planned. She didn't hold back when she told him everything that she knew, which made Khaos look at her with amusement.

"Do you know that what you are doing right now is an act of betrayal against your mate and your father? You are setting them to their deaths."

Scratching the cub's ear, Zuri lifted her head to look at Khaos. "Let them die. The world will not miss them. I will not miss them."

There was silence that stretched between them, as they stared into each other's eyes, until she spoke first, since she knew Xaden would be here any minute if he heard Khaos was here.

"You owe me a favor," she reminded him. "I want you to take me yours."

"That's a very bold suggestion." Khaos smirked, he caressed her cheek and Zuri leaned into his touch. "Do you like me that much?"

"Yes." She then tiptoed to kiss him, but Khaos avoided it and kissed her forehead instead.

"She is the luna of the Blackthorne pack!" Alpha Roland was in Khaos' face, but the latter was a head taller than him, thus it didn't have a powerful impact. Khaos simply stared down at

him.

"What are you going to do? Telling Xaden about this?" Khaos smiled, he was unfazed. "If you don't have anything to say, I will take my leave."

Khaos glanced at Zuri. He knew that this would land her in trouble, but he left anyway. After all, she was the one who asked for this.

"Alpha," Gayle called him as they walked down the hallway toward the carriage. "Is it okay to leave her like that? Alpha Roland will be so mad with her." He added hesitantly, "We still need her, right?"

Khaos didn't say anything about it, as he entered the carriage and glanced at the Blackthorne pack house for a brief moment before he closed the curtain window.

At this point, it was only a matter of time. Let him see whether she would back down and it would deter her determination.

If she wanted him, she had to prove it to him that she deserved it. The place by his side, by any means, was not a place for a soft hearted woman. He preferred a cruel and wicked one.

[We will go to the palace.]

Khaos mindlinked Gayle to change their destination.
