It felt... good.
Zuri only had ever fought against Caiden for two or three times, since she was trained by Gayle, but having Caiden to have her back was... great!
She had never fought like this before.
She wondered if fighting alongside Khaos would even be better than this?
Zuri was high with excitement and killing her enemies without any scrupulous, she didn’t need to worry to protect her back, because she knew Caiden was there to do the job.
And Caiden felt the same way.
It felt easy to fight with Zuri, since she was really a good fighter and in no time, there were so many enemies’ dead bodies littered around them, they made it like a competition.
"No more?" Zuri frowned, after she shifted back into her human form, when she saw the stream of enemy ceased down and the situation was under control, there was still fight here and there, but it was manageable. It was only their last attempt.
Behind her, Caiden shifted into his human form too. "Yeah, I think I killed most of them."
"Pardon me?" Zuri turned around, narrowed her eyes at his blatant lie. "Should I remind you that I saved your life?"
Caiden snorted. "I could manage, you know." No, he didn’t. He knew that he would be done for, if Zuri didn’t help him, yet it was either his ego couldn’t take it, or he simply wanted to tease her.
"Lie to someone, who actually will believe that," Zuri snorted back at him.
However, Caiden’s eyes widened and he pushed Zuri to the side when a silver dagger hurled toward them. Apparently, they missed two shifters, they were given enough time to heal their wounds and now they tried to run away from them.
"Fuck!" Caiden growled and started to chase after the enemy.
Seeing that, Zuri followed him as well, after all, she was not happy to be caught off guard and was thrown a dagger.
They entered the forest, where they saw the two beasts crossed the swamp and without a second thought, Zuri and Caiden followed them.
Both of them snickered, it felt like a game for them, as they hunted down the remaining two enemies. This was another competition for them. Sounded childish indeed.
[Zuri where are you?]
Zuri heard Khaos’s voice in her head. He must be around to track her down if he still could reach her through the mindlink.
[Come back.]
Instead, Zuri ignored it, she was too thrilled into this game with Caiden to stop, she was happy that she could have a reason to be able to do a killing spree.
The pain caused the monster wailed and frenzy, its slammed Caiden’s body to the ground and pound on his beast several times to the point, the beast couldn’t stand straight.
Zuri came and cut off its fin. Green blood oozed out from the wound and this time, the monster targeted her.
Zuri was ready.
However, before the monster could approach her, suddenly he let out an earth shattering sound and a second later, something pierced through his body. Ripped out his chest, leaving a huge hole there, where a white lycan emerged.
It’s fur was no longer white, but the color of dark green. The beast looked ferocious, it even scared Zuri and the crazy voices in her head.
The black beast took a step back, faltered with the sight of the lycan. Her eyes fixed on him when he shifted back into his human form with dark green blood still trickled down from his hair.
"Shift," Khaos said grimly. He glared at Zuri and watched his mate shifted back into her human form. "I told you to come back, didn’t I?"
Zuri stood there, unable to say anything. This was the first time Khaos was so mad at her. She didn’t listen to him and put her life in danger.
But she couldn’t ignore the temptation.
"You didn’t listen to me." Khaos approached her and now, he was so close, Zuri found herself lowered her head in submission.
