A Mate For The Last Lycan novel Chapter 152

Chapter 152: THE KING AND PRINCESS ROSE ARE HERE

"Are we sharing responsibility now?" Khaos pinched her chin and lifted her head, so he could stare into her eyes.

Zuri paused for a while. She stared at him. The way she looked at him was hard to describe. Khaos didn’t know what was in her head and he would love to be able to read her mind.

"I promise to help you to achieve your goal, right? I have given up my life for you. Everything. What else I will not give it to you?"

Khaos frowned, the statement didn’t sound right.

"I chose to stay. I know the consequences." Zuri kissed Khaos’s forehead like he used to do to her. "But, if I can turn back time. I will choose different path. I wish we never meet with each other. I wish my brother didn’t put the curse on me that resulted for me to have an attachment with you. I hope things will be different."

Khaos pressed his lips. His grey eyes turned slightly darker. This relationship... if you could call this as a relationship at all, was pretty messed up.

"You owe me a big favor for what I do for you, Khaos. Can I ask you one thing?"

Zuri had thought about it a few times and she was sure this was what she wanted. It was so hard to come up with this decision amidst the vile voices that echoed in her head.

"Anything."

"If after I completed the beauty blood and I survived. I want them to erase my memories about you and I don’t want you to look for me. I want to forget about everything. I want to forget about the pain and the past. I don’t want you in my life anymore."

Once the beauty blood was completed, the curses would disappear too and Zuri would be free from the pain.

"Will you do it for me?"

Khaos didn’t immediately answer her question, but in the end, he nodded. He kissed her forehead. "I will."

"Thank you." Zuri then added. "Make Rhett to stay away from me too. I only want to live with Shadow."

"I thought you don’t like the wolf."

"The wolf is the only creature that doesn’t hurt me. I like him now."

Two days later, king Dacre arrived at the front gates, people who gathered them to get their food distribution knelt down in front of their sovereign.

Dacre hugged Khaos and the alpha frowned. He didn’t like this gesture. Dacre and he had never been so touchy like this before.

He felt disgusted when his body touched his, but he reciprocated the hug with a smile. "I don’t see helping people as a responsibility. This is the right thing to do and because you can’t do it, I step in to help these poor people."

Zuri wanted to laugh when she heard that comeback. She didn’t know the king really well like Khaos did, but even she could tell that princess Rose was the one, who came up with the idea.

The subtle indication in Dacre’s statement was there. He wanted to claim Khaos’s work as his, giving a hint to people that Khaos distributed the food supply under the king’s command.

Khaos smoothly freed himself from Dacre, both of them were smiling as if they were good brother with strong bond. People knew that they were close and Khaos had been the king’s advisors for years.

"It’s so nice to finally have you here, since I don’t understand why did you suddenly send warriors to me to fight this pack. I don’t know what Silas informed you, but he left the people here to suffer during the winter, so Rhett and I took charge to help them all."

If Dacre wanted to play a fool, well, Khaos could be very ignorant too.

"Don’t you think running away from responsibility is not a behavior of a good leader?" Khaos continued with his monologue, he didn’t even give Dacre a chance to speak. "My king brother, I don’t understand why did you lend the royal warriors to Silas to get the pack that already belonged to him, because right now, people see him in bad light. Silas was not here when they needed their leader."

Dacre pressed his lips to keep his smile.
