Carl didn't hesitate. Grabbing his car keys, he dashed downstairs following the lead. The staff in the outer office were taken aback as two shadows, resembling gusts of wind, burst out of the CEO's office.
Since Mr. Boyd's return, his demeanor had always been laid-back and charmingly wicked. Why the sudden panic?
And why was the usually stoic Carl in such a rush too?
Everyone was dumbfounded as they watched Yvan and Carl zoom off. Then, someone glanced at their phone, and a breaking news alert popped up, “Oh my God, there's been a terrible explosion in our city!”
"Are you serious?"
The news shocked everyone who, in turn, dove into their phones for more information, “It happened in Sea City?”
"Don't we have Cyprian to protect us?"
"Yeah, we've got the Wind Deity..."
"Wait, it happened while Cyprian was here!"
"Oh no... Is this some kind of challenge?”
"I suddenly feel so scared. What if an explosion happens right next to me one of these days?"
"Don't say that; you're making me paranoid. Imagine walking down the street and the person next to you just... explodes. Terrifying..."
"Beat him! Utterly lawless!"
"You don't know pain until it hits you. I hope you and your family are the next victims of an explosion, with someone coldly interviewing you about your feelings!"
The cries of the victims' families were heart-wrenching, "You don't deserve to be called human!"
Society was in chaos, with everyone pushing and shoving, each claiming moral high ground. The community was in disarray, and even the police were caught up in the turmoil.
"Why are you stopping me? Are you protecting these journalists? Shouldn't the police be on the side of the victims?"
"Violence isn't the answer. Let's calm down and sort this out. We're here to protect you, but under no circumstances can you resort to violence!"
