A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 789

Asuka glanced around, her eyes lighting up with mischief, "Gonna snap a pic and blast this on Facebook!"

"The cops will be here any minute now."

Matilda held her pose, unfazed, "Anyone got some rope?"

A chorus of voices around her piped up, "I've got a dog leash, does that count?"

"Think there's some twine in the kitchen."

"What about duct tape?"

"Anything works." Matilda flashed a grin that won over the crowd, "Thanks, could you grab that for me?"

In no time, a bunch of people dashed into the kitchen, each eager to help Matilda out. Ten minutes later, the thug was tied up from head to toe with rope, his mouth sealed shut with duct tape wrapped around a couple of times, hands tied behind his back in a tight knot, legs bound tight.

Asuka clicked her fingers, "Check out my latest masterpiece, 'The Disgraced Robber'."

"You even gave it an artsy name." Matilda stretched, as onlookers started clapping, "Well done! He deserves to be exposed! Dump him on the street!"

"Like a medieval public shaming!"

Everyone was buzzing with anticipation, eager for the show. The robber, for his part, probably never imagined that trying to snatch a purse would land him in hot water with a martial artist, let alone that artist's posse. Now, he was a picture of misery, wishing for the police to arrive sooner and put an end to his humiliation.

From the shadows, a voice chuckled, "Is that Matilda?"

"Indeed." A subordinate knelt, respect in his voice, "It seems she's honed her skills during Yvan's absence."

"We got a call about..." Cyprian stopped mid-sentence, "Matilda?"

"Cyprian." Matilda finally relaxed, shoving the trussed-up thug towards him, "Here's your perp."

Cyprian couldn't help but laugh at the sight, "What in the world happened? Is this the criminal? Why's he look so pitiful?"

"He tried to steal my bag. Everyone here saw it," Matilda said briskly, "But I took care of him."

Cyprian gave her an impressed look, not expecting Matilda to have such skills, "Didn’t know you were into combat sports."

"Just basic self-defense, really. Picked up a few extra moves along the way," Matilda replied casually, "I'll leave the rest to you."
