Yvan stood there, heaving a sigh, while Criss came out, spotting Yvan getting stopped and couldn’t help but chuckle gleefully, “Wow, finally made a friend and now you’re back in the doghouse with Matilda?”
Yvan scratched the back of his head in irritation, “It’s all because of that woman... what’s her name... Donna.”
Criss burst into laughter on the spot, “You mean Donna? The daughter of one of the major shareholders of Starlight Media, no wonder she’s so full of herself.”
After he finished, he took another look at Yvan, “So, you really don’t know her now?”
Yvan pointed to himself, “Do I look like I’m pretending?”
Criss said, “What about me? Do you remember me?”
Yvan shook his head, “Don’t remember, but my gut tells me you and Matilda are tight.”
“Hahaha!” Criss laughed heartily, “Exactly, we’re close. You used to be so annoyed by me, and now you still have to ask for my help.”
“Ask you?”
“To tell you how to win Matilda back.”
“…” Yvan took a couple of steps back, “Do I look like that kind of person?”
Criss stood there, arms crossed, giving Yvan that “dad looking at his son” gaze.
Yvan glanced desperately back at Matilda.
“I was afraid she’d think I was meddling,” Yvan looked a bit down, “My position is so awkward now, not helping makes me seem heartless; helping, and Chloe and the others would definitely think I’m meddling and making things worse. Especially since the bad impressions from before are still there.”
Criss sized up Yvan from head to toe, “Doesn’t sound like you. You really changed. You never used to consider Matilda’s feelings this much, and now you’re all considerate. What should we call it, karma? Or what goes around comes around? Matilda used to keep quiet about her grievances with you, fearing to tarnish your reputation.”
Yvan gave a bitter smile and shook his head, “Let’s not talk about the past. I’ll take whatever comes, just talk to Matilda for me, ask her not to be mad. Even if she doesn’t forgive me, it’s not worth it for her to be upset.”
Muttering something about how peculiar the situation was, Criss went in to whisper with Matilda. After a bit, Matilda glanced at Yvan, letting out a cold laugh, and told James, “It’s okay now, James.”
“Oh, good.” James immediately pushed the rail aside, “Mr. Boyd, please come in.”
He added a word of caution, “And please, try not to upset Ms. Thompson again.”
