A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 778

Logan and Criss were walking hand in hand when Logan suggested, "How about we go out for dinner tonight? I need a change of scenery. Man, and here I was thinking Yvan was starting to turn a new leaf."

"You're still naive, kiddo. There's a lot about adult relationships that you just don't get," Criss replied, glancing outside where Yvan might still be standing. "Things aren't always what they seem."

"But if there's something on the surface," Logan quickly added, "it means there's something going on."

Criss was left speechless, feeling like this kid's logic was on a whole different level that even adults couldn't catch up to.

Outside, Donna was all over Yvan, practically dragging him around the office to show him off as if he was some trophy.

Yvan finally shrugged her off, "Did I say I was your plus-one for a company tour?"

Donna looked innocently at him, "You didn't say no..."

"I didn't say yes either!" Yvan was on the verge of losing it. Being paraded around like a show monkey wasn't exactly his idea of fun.

Deciding enough was enough, he called over Carl and walked away, with Donna chasing after him, "Yvan, wait up—"

"Stop!" Yvan shouted, "We're done. I 'lost my memory,' remember? I don't know you, so let's not talk about the past."

"Besides, this is my boyfriend. Why would I be interested in Yvan? What, is he made of gold? You think I'm like you, pretending to be single to hook up with one big shot after another? Do you think Yvan even cares about you? Remember when Yvan was chasing after Matilda? Were you planning to swoop in after her?"

Chloe's biting wit left Donna speechless. Chloe laughed mockingly, thinking back to her days as a fierce secretary, "You're trying to play the big game, honey? I was closing deals and taking names when you were still figuring out how to walk in heels!"

As Matilda stepped out, she saw Donna, furious and about to lunge at Chloe. Matilda shouted, stepping forward to push her away, only for Donna's nails to scratch across her face. That was the last straw for Yvan, "Matilda!"

Donna, losing any sense of restraint, blurted out, "Another one? You're all in this together, aren't you? Perfect, I'll take you all on at once!"
