A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 773

When the question was asked, Yvan, who was walking over, held his breath too.

Would Logan ever accept Yvan again after everything that had happened?

Meanwhile, Logan was gazing deeply into Matilda's eyes in the hallway. "Honestly, my resistance towards Yvan isn't as strong as it was six months ago, but mom, the barriers that should exist, still exist. If you two end up on opposite paths, I won't force you to stick together."

"Going to the Boyd family is like living the high life, with fine dining and luxury at every turn, surely better than what I could provide for you." Matilda then asked, "Any regrets?"

"None at all."

Matilda smiled and affectionately pinched Logan's cheek, "Well then, it's a deal. No matter how tough the road ahead, you're stuck with me."

Who would remember this jest in times to come?

Matilda left the hospital in the afternoon, and Yvan insisted on driving her home despite her protests of it being too much trouble.

"Since... since we're friends now, it shouldn't be a problem for me to drive you home, right?" Yvan caught up with Matilda's pace. "Besides, letting you go back alone isn't gentlemanly."

Unable to resist his insistence, Matilda agreed. Logan reminded Yvan, "Drive slow, no need to rush. We're not in a hurry."

Yvan looked back at Logan, and for a moment, father and son shared a look, their resemblance uncanny.

Later, as Matilda got into Yvan's car, Keaton, who was still at the hospital taking care of R7CKY, watched them leave and mused, "I still think there's hope for Yvan."

"I don't," Lance, standing beside Keaton, replied. "There's nothing in Matilda's eyes. She's vacant. To her, Yvan is just the same."

"That kind of talk scares me," Keaton glanced at his so-called rival. Lance adjusted his white hair, smirking as he playfully choked Keaton from behind, "Let them be. We just need to take care of ourselves."

It was time to revisit the incident of the Seven Deadly Sins from five years ago.

Yvan drove Matilda back to Whty City, then headed to the parking lot beneath his apartment. Just as Matilda was about to leave, Yvan grabbed her wrist.

"Matilda."

"Yes?" She turned, her gaze as deep and emotionless as an ancient well.

After a long hesitation, Yvan finally said with clenched teeth, "Are we... friends now?"

"Yes." Matilda forced a small smile. "But only friends, Yvan. This is the biggest concession and tolerance I can offer you."
