A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 714

"I'll give everything back to you, everything the Boyd family has." Matilda straightened her hair, trying to calm herself. "Your parents are still waiting for you. Don't make them worry any longer."

Her biological parents?

Yvan shook his head, "I can't go back yet. It's not over."

"What else do you need to do?" Matilda looked straight into Yvan's eyes, feeling that the man in front of her was no longer the Yvan she once knew.

He had changed completely, and the memories of the past had vanished like smoke.

"There are some things back home I need to finish." Yvan frowned. "Matilda, I'm your ex-husband, right?"

It was ironic that Yvan now had to confirm this fact from Matilda's lips.

With her voice trembling, Matilda replied, "Yes."

The pain was like a knife to her heart.

Yvan's eyes reddened. "So it really was me..."

The realization that he was the one who had committed so many unforgivable acts against her hit him hard. So when Logan said in Australia, "My father was the worst but also the best man," the feeling in his chest was so peculiar.

Because they had met before, yet had never recognized each other.

Yvan remained silent, thinking about the atrocities Matilda had told him about her ex-husband. It felt like a cruel irony.

He was that ex-husband, the man Matilda despised the most.

Matilda seemed to guess what Yvan was thinking. She simply fixed her hair and then took out her phone to call a cab, telling Yvan, "Yvan, I guess I don't have to call you 'Mr. Boyd' anymore."

You don't have to remember. Missing out on each other is not a loss at all.

The fleeting moments of sacrificing their lives for each other were enough to support her through the rest of her life.

This time, when Matilda left, Yvan didn't reach out to stop her.

He hadn't forgotten; he was afraid.

When the forgotten truths were laid out so vividly before him, Yvan lost the courage to hold onto Matilda.

He was the cause of everything, while Matilda, after bearing all the burdens, took on so much responsibility for him. While he lived carefree with amnesia, how did Matilda survive those agonizing six months?

Yvan watched Matilda's retreating back with teary eyes, as if watching his world collapse.
