A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 708

A voice cut through the air, shattering the awkward silence and tension, leaving Matilda frozen in place as she watched the man make his entrance, feeling as if the whole world quieted down with him.

Behind her, the chaotic electronic music and the crowd dancing wildly to the beat seemed to fade away. Only this man, walking over from the next booth with a drink in hand, casting a long, tall shadow, reminded Matilda of the figure that haunted her nightmares.

As he approached, he removed his hat and then his face mask, revealing his face to the entire room in one bold move!

The room went into an uproar!

That face... it was... Yvan!

Yvan, the man who could turn Sea City upside down with a flick of his wrist!!

He... he wasn't dead?! Who the hell had lied to her, saying Yvan was long gone?!

Dean's expression shifted dramatically from smug satisfaction to utter despair. He couldn't believe that such an incredible thing could happen - Yvan was alive... If he wasn't dead, then who was the one they found that day?

Was this man really Yvan?

The onlookers, sensing the commotion, turned to look, their breaths catching.

There stood a man with a slender build, his long, distinct fingers playing with a glass of drink, the clear liquid inside slowly undulating like the surface of the sea. His dark eyes, caught in the light, looked like fragments of the starry night sky had fallen into them –

Dean was at a loss for words, and Yvan found his discomfiture amusing, "Don't be like that, Mr. Dean, we're all friends here. Looks like Matilda’s had plenty to drink, how about I toast to you instead?"

Who in their right mind would dare to have Yvan toast to them?! That would be like signing one's own death warrant! Anyone who dared to make Yvan lower his pride was practically asking for trouble!

Dean looked at the man before him, like a deity descended amongst mortals, his mind completely overtaken by shock.

Yvan had returned... Yvan was back?!

Matilda, too, was stunned by Yvan's sudden presence at her side, as if by some twist of fate. He had pushed her to the brink of hell time and again, yet he had also pulled her from the depths of despair.
