Holy smokes, isn't that Matilda?
If Matilda catches Yvan sitting with him, wouldn't that just scream that this Yvan is the same Yvan from before?
Keaton nearly jumped out of his skin, shouting at Yvan, “What did I say about bumping into her unexpectedly!”
The moment Yvan laid eyes on Matilda, his face lit up like a Christmas tree, a stark contrast to the bored look he had while chatting with the barmaid sitting next to him. He was about to stand up when Keaton grabbed his wrist.
“What’s up?” Yvan frowned beneath his mask, signaling with his eyes.
Keaton nodded towards Matilda and then whispered, “Looks like she’s in the middle of something. Wouldn’t be good to just barge in, so let’s just chill and watch for a bit.”
Yvan glanced back at Matilda, noticing her elegant dress and meticulous makeup. Could she be here on a date?
But when his gaze shifted to the chubby middle-aged man sitting across from Matilda, Yvan’s brows furrowed. “Who's that guy?”
Keaton was puzzled too. “Seems like an outsider, probably from the next town over, Whty City…”
“Whty City's real estate tycoon, Dean.” Lance recognized the man instantly, sipping his drink. His white hair gleamed under the light, giving him an ethereal look. He turned around with a mocking smile, “That guy got a taste of our mischief before. Somehow, he managed to get protection from some big shots later on.”
Reluctantly, Yvan agreed, his gaze never leaving Matilda, ready to pounce at the first sign of trouble.
Meanwhile, Dean and Matilda were oblivious to the group watching their every move. Matilda was well aware of Dean's intentions but needed his cooperation to secure a deal in Whty City.
Reluctantly, she had dressed up for the occasion, but Dean’s sleazy grin made her skin crawl.
She was determined to change the way women were perceived in the business world, to show that a woman could be more than just a man’s plaything and succeed as an independent entrepreneur. Yet, it seemed the world was still biased against women taking the reins as CEOs.
